Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

"Furbabies," ugh. The only similarity that cats have with babies is the propensity to vomit for no apparent reason. Cats aren't babies. They're roommates who don't help out with the rent.

To be fair, fourteen years is actually a decent lifespan for a cat, and IIRC the "flat-faced" ones are prone to have shorter-than-normal lives due to their genetic defects (having a face like that is not evolutionary beneficial for a predator and can also cause breathing problems, IIRC).
IDK about cats but English Bulldogs who have squishy faces have massive breathing and health issues (not to mention being the only creature at a Georgia football game more inbred than Georgia fans) so I would imagine it’s the same way with the flat faced cats.

RIP kitty. Losing a pet sucks, I don’t blame him for getting emotional about it.

Marcs profile is amazing, his entire universe is CG he has nothing else going on outside of the vague trappings of over-investmant in nerd culture and those cats.

This guys life is so pointless isnt even a lolcow he's just a loser.

Bulldogs are notorious for breathing issues. But most of the other shorter noted breeds aren’t so bad. The only issue with them is they are mainly adapted to colder climates, such as the Tibetan Breeds like Lhasa Apso’s and Shitzu’ or English Sheepdogs. They can’t move as much air to cool themselves in really hot climates. But the shorter snout is to in part insulated against the cold air.

As for cats? The only evolutionary purpose for long haired short nosed cats is it increases the chances some stupid human will keep them indoors and feed them. They are like the evolutionary equivalent of Instagram THOTs. Morons genetically engineered to seek out a Sugar Daddy.

ngl EVS’s autistic hate boner for Rose is pretty creepy at this point and only makes him look more like a lolcow sperg.

Basically, she’s to EVS what blarms were to Chris-Chan.

At lest he knows better than to not harass the actress for simply playing a poorly written character. Besides, it's less creepy than anything I've seen on DeviantArt.

Seems like people like SJW Spider-Man care way more about the way fictional female characters are being treated than actual real life women.

I’m kinda curious about who SJW Spider-Man is in real life. This person gets assblasted so easily they must be a lolcow. Does anyone have any guesses on who SJW Spider-Man is?

There's speculation circling now that he and/or Renfamous are paid-off social media shills running interference for one or both of the Big Two. I don't buy it personally, but it would explain why people like this are able to spend hour after hour on Twitter every day.

Ren just has no life. I have no idea about the other but no reason not to assume it's just the same. They're just really really into anti-CG.

To add to that conspiracy, Kwanza Osajyefo (Government Name: Kwanza Johnson) of BLACK AF works for Weber Shandwick a massive public relations computer known for running what are essentially gay ops. The conspiracy is that Marvel has hired Weber Shandwick and Ren and SJWSpiderman work for Weber.

Time to shit on Bendis (my favorite pastime).

To recap Bendis was brought on to DC and DC hyped the crap out of him. Multiple double page spread ads:

CBR: Bendis is Breaking Superman's Reality Down, In All the Right Ways
by Mike Fugere – on Jul 14, 2018 in CBR Exclusives
WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for Superman #1 by Brian Michael Bendis, Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, and Alex Sinclair, on sale now.

If his body of work over the last two decades is any indication, writer Brian Michael Bendis loves putting his characters through emotional and physical turmoil about as much as he loves quips and snarky dialogue. Bendis spent a lot of his time at Marvel Comics putting various heroes through the wringer to some capacity, and not all of them made it out the other end in one piece. Bendis’ perceived "sadism" toward superheroes stems from his early crime stories, where characters are double-crossed, beat down, and given a raw deal more often than not. And while none of his stories are without their light-heartedness from time to time, it's the the darker aspects of his work that often has readers coming back for more, month after month.

The exemplary version of this pain parade could be seen in the pages of Daredevil during Bendis’ five year run on the book with artist Alex Maleev. By the time Bendis was done with Matt Murdock, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen was unmasked, his life was in shambles, and he was carted away to prison. And instead of bailing Daredevil out at the last minute in a classic comic book Hail Mary fashion, Bendis ended his arc. The final panel of his run in issue 81 is wide shot of Matt’s new home as he awaits trial: Ryker’s Island.
Well a couple months have passed since he was hired, let's check his numbers.

First up Man of Steel. Well that's a new one, never seen an entire series have issues returned:

Maybe he's doing better on Superman?:
unknown (2).png

Basically Bendis' numbers keep going down and have reached the numbers it took both Jurgens and Tomasi (T&J to save time) at least a dozen of issues to get to. What people had interest in Bendis' run are leaving faster than with T&J. It took Bendis 6 issues to get the same numbers Tomasi's 21st issue and it took Bendis 5 issues to reach the same numbers as Jurgen's 12th issue. So he's doing pretty bad, but maybe we can find some positive reviews somewhere outside of the shill sites? NOPE:
Lmao:
Ok so he's doing badly on Superman, maybe he's doing good on his creator owned books.......NOPE (Part 2):
unknown (1).png

Oh dear, both his Jinxworld and Nu-Vertigo (US vs Murder Inc) titles are doing very bad. Good thing DC decided to give him more work with the new Wonder Comics line.
Wonder_Comics_insert-page-001-600x923.jpg
But I'm sure this won't impact DC in any meaningful wa-
Okay tbf I can't lay all the blame on Bendis. New Age of Heroes was a failure, most books didn't make it past 12 issues due to low sales. Which is a major bummer to me since I liked half of the titles and I would frequently recommend them (:_(
unknown (6).png

Nu-Vertigo was a massive failure. I know, I'm shocked too. (High Level, Second Coming still not out)
unknown (7).png

This lead to DC having to restructure and having to fire 3% of their staff (don't know a specific number). Now I want to turn your attention to the Marvel Rats (my nickname for the lovely rats that left the Marvel ship as it sinked), Robbi is on GODDESS MODE, G Willow Wilson on Wonder Woman, Kelly Sue Deconnick on Aquaman and Bendis/Walker on Naomi.

The number for some of these books (specifically Naomi) still aren't out, but that won't stop me from sharing what's available:

G Willow is doing okay so far. Her 1st issue bump didn't last long tho:
unknown (5).png

Normally when a new team takes over a book their 1st issue will normally get more orders because of fan hype. But Kelly Sue isn't your normal comics creator, she managed to lower Aquaman orders by 8K on her 1st issue. :story: That's another first for me.

But how could this have- oh right this interview:
The new Aquaman will be more Wonder Woman than Superman
-Kelly Sue DeConnick talks about her upcoming run on the Atlantean hero

By Susana Polo@NerdGerhl Aug 3, 2018, 2:00pm EDT

One of the most surprising reveals of San Diego Comic-Con 2018 was that Kelly Sue DeConnick will be tackling a newAquaman story for DC Comics. Granted, that was at least partially because DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio wasn’t supposed to have mentioned it at the company’s traditional Thursday morning press event.

But the fish is out of the net: DeConnick, who famously relaunched Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel and co-created the women-in-prison-exploitation-film-subverting comic Bitch Planet, will be taking over the Aquaman series soon — so when I sat down with DeConnick this week, I had to ask: Why Aquaman?

Not to diminish the hero, of course — I’m a firm believer that there’s no such thing as a dumb character — but when one has been the butt of as many Justice League jokes as Aquaman, you have to ask.
DeConnick told me that that was part of the attraction to tackling a book described by DC’s chief creative officer, Jim Lee, asa Batman: Year One for the Atlantean.

“Aquaman is this character where ... he is part of the Justice League, so he’s one of the big seven, right? But he’s also kinda considered second-tier. So he’s a little bit under the radar and I think that that makes him an underdog to start with, which is a place I really like to work from.”
It also doesn’t hurt that the current, most visible depiction of Aquaman comes in the form of Jason Momoa and every single one of his well-tanned mussels muscles. But DeConnick wants to stress she’s not writing Momoa’s Aquaman.

“I’m writing my Aquaman. I’ve done my research, and I don’t want to scare anyone: This is not a reboot! We’re not even renumbering! But there was something about the kind of Momoa twinkle in the eye, the little bit of a swagger. I find that really appealing. And then there’s something really visceral about water and primal about the ocean, and I got really interested in that.”

Taking an interest in a character is one thing, but crafting your own unique approach is another. DeConnick didn’t want to give too many details, naturally, but she could talk about her process, and finding her own take on Arthur Curry, superhero and half-human heir to the throne of the lost city of Atlantis.

“The question I always ask when I’m approaching any character is Where does their pain come from? What is their core wound, and how is that played out in their power set? Can you connect their wound to their gift? and How is it played out in their personality? And then What kinds of conflicts does that suggest?”

She looked at a lot of the traditional themes of the best Aquaman arcs, particularly Geoff Johns’ New 52-eraAquaman ongoing series, which built the canonical foundation for DC’s current version of Aquaman.

“Based on the work that Geoff did,” DeConnick said, “I have a different idea for what the core wound is for Arthur, that I want to play from.”
“The approach for Aquaman has always been that he is essentially mixed race, right? He’s half-Atlantean and half-human, so he doesn’t belong in either place, and the idea is [that] each place rejects him for that. But my feeling is that in contemporary society we cannot play the beautiful, literally bulletproof white boy off as facing bias because of his mixed parentage. I think that is disingenuous at best and, I don’t know, cruel at worst. So, I was like Alright, well, what else have we got to work with?”

Her Aquaman will move the conflicted king closer to Wonder Woman than Superman.

“There’s these different iconic models that we work with in superheroes and he’s always been the alien model, right? Like Superman, [Aquaman] is not of this world. [...] I wanted to shift him from that to more of a mythological grounding. More like ... Wonder Woman or Thor would be myth-based characters, as opposed to the alien model. So that’s the other shift that I’m making. But it isn’t like I’m rewriting his history. It’s rather sort of a tonal shift or an approach shift. I don’t want to scare anyone. Really, I’m not scary and very nice!”

Many details on DeConnick’s Aquaman run remain to be announced, including the artist and release date, but based on upcoming runs, it’s unlikely to hit shelves until early 2019.
DC is on a death spiral, which can be blamed on Didio and which ever genius is recruiting the Marvel Rats (which may or may not also be Didio):
But you're probably wondering why I'm making this giant post. The answer is quite simple:
I was bored.

Wow, you lay out the numbers like that and... damn.

Wonder what happened in Action Comics #987 to cause that big ol' bump? I might have to look into that out of curiosity.

It's a testament to Abnett that he's able to get those kinds of numbers with Aquaman. But you have to wonder if he makes more money doing Black Library stuff.

Boy if this doesn't show everything wrong with the industry, steadily decreasing sales, special editions to immediately double current issue sales and a whopping 772.8% increase for the milestone / speculator market of; new #1, issue 1000 and last of Jurgens run. Followed by an -82.36% decrease by the first Bendis issue and an -89% drop when compared to issue #5.

In other news Lauren is still trying to become relevant https://boundingintocomics.com/2019...l-arroz-accept-renfamous-challenge-to-debate/ Is likely hoping that the woke crowd that go to conventions will help her out. Here's some big words for someone who had already ducked a debate challenge.
