Bad Cosplay - Thots, weebs, and wannabes

Can't believe I missed this earlier ... I've met him too! That is, if you're talking about the legendary Sailor Bubba. He's something of an institution at Anime Central in Chicago; he's even been used as a mascot a couple of times, IIRC. Total sweetheart and, yes, doing it for a laugh.

Some of these costumes I can't really hate. Toilet Paper Kakashi, for example, is just so weird as to be funny, and it's hard to tell if they're not being done for a laugh. It's surprisingly hard to construct an even halfway-recognizable wig from soft paper, after all.

The Mudkips, on the other hand, need to be introduced to the wonders of dyed bodysuits.

It's kind of neat that you met the Sailor Bubba guy. He seems like a nice enough dude.

Sailor Bubba is truly awesome and indeed a very nice, NORMAL(!), non-sperg who did something cute for his daughter and now it’s a great running gag. He’s always in a great mood, gives you presents and NEVER smells. And honestly, his costume is spot on. He’s exactly what “lighten up, it’s just a costume” is all about. I’m glad to hear he’s a con mascot.

The Mudkip and the Mammoth Orange in a bra are scary as hell. Even if you ARE a sperg, WHY would think this was a good idea?

Also, is the gal in orange supposed to be Garnet from FFIX? Because if so, the character wears a full jumpsuit, and the exposed white area at the top is sort of a fluffy chemise-like thing. Not a swimsuit with a bra poking out of it. Either she was in a great hurry, or someone's been lying to that poor gal about her costuming skills.

Omg that’s fabulous! He deserves it for being EXACTLY what great sense of humor, Bad costuming can actually be. They even got his little pink purse right. We now need more pics of actual bad costumes, from the DONT Let This Happen To You sector. Whatever the Mammoth Orange is, it’s a mammoth mistake.

Back in the beginning of the decade, 4chan's /cgl/ board would have plenty of threads on people who were among the cringiest members of the burgeoning online cosplay community. Sure Pixyteri was always a feature, but there was one girl who always got her own fair share of discussion. Her name was PeacockFeather.

PeacockFeather (aka Rachel Tallnam) was one of their favorite punching bags because of her creepiness, obvious disabilities and her absolute failure in cosplay. As a creeper she would obsess over other cosplayers to the point where people would strategize how to avoid her. She would get cosplay crushes on these girls essentially. She had obvious disabilities, evident from her writing style, outward appearance and behavior and her cosplay was just absolutely weird/horrible.

I love reading through all of this. I went to one convention that was Pax Prime 14 and the amount of bad cosplay was truly amazing. Bitches with beer guts in tube tops. But when I see bad cosplay I like to think that they are ironically using bad cosplay.

She had a rep back in the day of scamming people on commissions by selling costumes from China saying she made them. There are also allegations of animal abuse and just generally being a shitty person. Supposedly she tried claiming she was going to sue Otakon years back for slipping on a foam shuriken on stage for a competition and that's why she lost.

There are a couple things floating around from Googling her but a lot of the links are dead.

She's actually banned from multiple cons in the east area, specifically in the PA area both for scamming and the stalking, speaking of, she likes to make dozens of facebook accounts to both harass people and stalk people that talk bad about her. It's been a while since I've heard her doing anything, last I remember she had been spotted sneaking into a local con she was banned from. Hopefully she got the hint and is actually taking care of her kid instead of wasting money on shitty cosplay.
