Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

There's speculation circling now that he and/or Renfamous are paid-off social media shills running interference for one or both of the Big Two. I don't buy it personally, but it would explain why people like this are able to spend hour after hour on Twitter every day.

Ren just has no life. I have no idea about the other but no reason not to assume it's just the same. They're just really really into anti-CG.

If GamerGate is anything to go by, they either have non-jobs like "community manager" or "social media manager", or they are on disability and thus have the time and inclination to edit Wikipedia 16 hours a day.

Dolls - Unlike Lauren, EVS and his wife seem to have a healthy marriage and talk to one another, so she already knows about Rose Tico and EVS buying SW junk to make money on his YouTube page.

I didn't know what they meant by "the doll thing", but how would buying Star Wars toys on clearance be something that ruins a marriage or would require explaining?

Didn't Marvel just cancel a version of Captain America hates America last year due to low sales and fan hate?

There is two i have seen; always buys Rose Tico stuff and is so obsessed with her therefore EVS is cheating on his wife. But the one that REALLY gets their panties in a bunch is that EVS bought ~10 toys destroyed them on camera with scissors and looped it for 1-2h and therefore EVS is a wahman hater who wants to mutilate real wahman.

In reality his hate turned love of the character is just a channel joke/meme.

Or his long run on Legion of Superheros.
Well, that was when he was still partnered with Andy Lanning, but I look at that run as one of the best Legion runs of all time. Hell, I have three copies of "Legion of the Damned," both floppies and a trade paperback, because I needed to complete their run.

It gets depressing when you learn that Gail Simone immediately followed their run and there was Waid's "Threeboot" after that. Annett (and Lanning) made the Legion an excellent read and that all got fucked up because Waid wanted another reboot. Hasn't the Legion suffered enough?

Honestly, at this point I don't even know where they are fucking going with this comic, or as a company in general.
I half expect Shuri (since they T'Challa is lost in space) will offer him asylum and he becomes Captain WOKEanda

An incredibly drunk Nick Rekeita is co-streaming with Zidan right now. He just interrupted Zidan talking about IMC to show him that Zaid still had (whoa, Rekeita just called Zaid a "faggot…") those Disney Channel starlet videos favorited on his YouTube account. You would have thought that info would have gotten back to Zaid and he would have removed those favorites by now. Maybe he's locked out of that account?

I don’t think I’ve ever heard ya boi Zach quite this angry. Like focused, un appologetically angry. Not enraged. Just mad and willing to hit back. He’s talking about that Chinese Immigrant YA author that the SJ Harpies just branded a racist and destroyed her career. It’s very informative. Both from what was done to this poor woman, and with the focused anger radiating off Meyer.

I feel like if some company had paid her off, she would have done a better job hiding her real identity, and some other shill would have come along and threatened to rape and murder her 1000 times.

Turn Captain America into a Nazi.
Kill him off and replace him with an inferior replacement.
Bring Captain America back to life after his replacement fails.
Immediately have him betray his country.

A quick note to comic book writers: you can't subvert something that doesn't exist. Every writer want to do their edgy subversion of Captain America's patriotic image, but Captain America hasn't been written as a patriotic hero in years. Most writers have him either questioning his patriotism, lecturing Americans for being patriotic, or in outright rebellion against the government. You want to be subversive? Have him support President Trump. No, not politically, but patriotically. Have Cap say something along the lines of, "You may not like him, but the President represents all Americans and the best way to make sure our interests are included is by working with him and having a seat at the table." There you go. A Cap who isn't a partisan hack, but a patriot who is trying to make the country better by being a uniting force instead of a symbol of rebellion and hate.

5 minutes after that comic hits the stands, Marvel's offices will get besigned by screeching whales and bearded skeletons who haven't bought a comic in their lives.

Even the Female Furies of Darkseid’s Apokolips face sexual harassment issues
Darkseid is ... the ultimate evil, after all

2017 saw Jack Kirby’s characters starring in a multi-Eisner-award winning miniseries, while a big screen adaptation from director Ava Duvernay hovers tantalizingly on the horizon of potential. It feels as though the Fourth World is inching towards a true mainstream breakout, and DC’s new Female Furies, written by Cecil Castellucci and drawn by Adrian Melo (Plastic Man), is another inch forward.

Castellucci cut her teeth at DC on the trippy Shade, the Changing Girl, a modern revamp of an old DC/Vertigo standby, Shade, the Changing Man. Her Shade filtered the anxiety and rebellion of teenager-hood through alien body-swapping and cosmic poets, and Female Furies is about another kind rebellion: A fight for gender equality in a system where everyone is subservient to the caprices of the DC Universe’s biggest villain.

Female Furies
#1, out on Feb. 6, tells the story of Granny Goodness and the Female Furies, the greatest fighting force in the armies of the dread Darkseid — and how even they are underestimated and objectified by the men who outrank them.

What threads did you want to pick up to bring into Female Furies?

Castellucci:
When you’re reading Kirby’s version, you really see how the Female Furies are treated as second class citizens. Even though they are very important and vital and Granny is really important. I mean, there’s a reason why Barda leaves.

..when you dig deeper and you start to piece together all the things with the Female Furies, you really see that Granny Goodness, while she’s in the inner circle, she’s on the outside. And she’s in charge of the orphanage, which is woman’s work. She has this female fighting force, but [when] you see a lot of the other guards or arrow troopers or whatever talk to Barda or Guillotina or Lashina, it’s very misogynist. And I don’t think that that’s Kirby being misogynist, that’s a reflection of the time and also of the brutality of that world, that everything is pushed to 100.

It makes a horrible kind of sense that Darkseid, who is this ultimate evil character, would truly use every tool at his disposal to take power. Do you see his coercive sexual relationship with Granny in this issue as him wielding power, or him just responding to desire?

Castellucci:
I think it’s a little bit of both. I mean, I also think about Darkseid being a younger man, a younger person at that time. Do you know what I mean? Just like Granny is. And I feel like that’s a different thing. I don’t know what Darkseid — I don’t know that he — I’m sure that it’s different [laughs] as anybody grows up. Things change and evolve and stuff.

I think it’s wrapped up in a lot of things, right? Like powerful men, the things that they do and the appetites that they have, and the prices that people pay for that. It’s everywhere in the news. So really it was pulled from the headlines, it just seems sort of obvious. And it seems obvious, too, that he would have a very different relationship with Granny than he would with his cronies, with the boys. Because there is that extra dynamic that is there.

Is there anything else you want people to know about the book going in?

Castellucci:
I guess I would just like people to know that this is a story that’s just telling it from another point of view. It’s telling a Kirby story, but from another point of view. And that all the characters can withstand any harsh light thrown on them. I’m trying to remain as true as possible to the characters as Kirby set down.

Yes, I'm sure turning Darkseid into a horny old man who just wanted some of that sweet Granny puss is true to Kirby's vision, you fucking clown. Darkseid is supposed to represent a kind of existential evil that was based on the mythological stories Kirby was inspired by. He's not sitting on Apokalypse drinking cognac out of a snifter and hitting on the secretary like a bad caricature of a 60s businessman.

Honestly having such hatred for one specific character to the point of buying and destroying their merch IS a pretty spergy thing to do, but I wouldn't call it behavior that needs some long form explanation outside of "did you spend actual money on this?" And even that's kinda moot considering the success of his crowdfunding.

Also maybe it's just because I'm not much of a Star Wars sperg, but I really don't get some of the hate Rose gets anyways. Her overall appearance in the film is kinda dumpy I guess, but there's way more annoying and/or story-breaking characters in that film alone. She's not like Rey where previously established lore gets re-written just to make her extra special, or that purple haired commander chick who causes like 85% of the problems.
