Horrorcow Susan Schofield Cabana, Cory Cabana, & Michael Schofield / Schofield Productions / @bipolarnation - A Tragicomic Tale of Psychiatric Munchausen's by Proxy

I hope you are able to meet them some day. Jani seems like a really sweet kid and like she really seeks out and needs good female role models in her life.
My thoughts exactly, the way she interacts with Bodhi I think she would do great with younger kids too, not to pressure Kelli to seek a placement or anything lol. But in a perfect world ... One can dream.

No excuses given for the mad cow, but medications that are considered to be 'expired' are often off-loaded to '3rd world' countries - the meds are almost always fine past expiry date, possibly slightly less effectve due to anti-caking agents, etc expiring and requiring checks for harmful bacteria build-up. Expired meds are often 'safe' to take, if not as affective as intended. Not to give any munchie parents an 'out', it's usually the responsibility of a pharmacy to send unused or expired meds to a country that desperately needs the surplus, expired or no.

ETA (I hate ETAs but...) Not suggesting that pharmacists or other professionals are responsible for children being provided with out of date meds, only suggesting that a responsible caregiver would forfeit/donate any OOD meds and a pharmacy would find a much-needed home or such medications.

Agree, but want to add a caveat. Expired meds are mostly safe, probably slightly less effective. But (so far) I know of one important exception, and that's tetracycline antibiotics (doxycyline, tegacyline, and minocyline being the three most used ones). These breakdown into toxic products, and taking them well past the expiration date has been linked to severe kidney damage (Fanconi Syndrome specifically) which has been lethal in cases. Worth going to the doc for a new script if you think you need antibiotics, and these are what you have laying around.

Susan WOULD think all those kids in third-world countries need her leftover meds. Being able to move and talk and smile and run.

Maybe in a perfect world. I dont think I could be that much of a hero though unfortunately. I don't know jani and I've never talked to her I just hope things get better for her.

Let’s not get carried away.

All we know about Kelli is just what she’s shared here about her early life and crappy father. She has three kids (?) and one on the way so I think her hands are quite full already in that department.

She barely has a connection to her father, so extending that sliver of a thread to his step-kids is a bit much.

It’s great Kelly is stepping up to reveal what she knows about Cory’s financial motivation in this child abuse circus. Simply by sharing this info she has done more for Jani and Bodhi than most adults who actually have met and know them. She’s done her duty as a moral person, I don’t think anything more should be expected or implied.

I'm trying to keep up. Things are moving very fast here today. Can we talk about how over the top ridiculous Dr. Phil is with Jani in this clip??? She is clearly an out of control hyper kid who knows she can control the conversation and never be corrected for her blatantly rude behavior. Phil asks her a question, she talks about what she wants to gain control, and rather than redirect her to what He asked her, he just lets her do her thing.

So then, she TELLS them she's going to go find the dog & just goes. Nobody tells her to sit down or stop. They just act like only a psycho would have terrible social skills and rude behavior. Phil's all, "she wandered off & did what she wanted" like, clearly the voice are guiding her. I mean, jesus! What if someone had acted like an adult & told her to sit her ass down? They don't even try: an assistant just brings her exactly what she wanted, further reinforcing her impression that she is perpetually in charge of everyone around her. It's disgusting.

And Susan is just sitting there with that smug face. Loving every second of it. Really, truly enjoying herself. Fam, she was proud of that spoiled little brat that she created.

This new episode is gonna be some real Must See Tv.

Just pausing for a moment during the turn of events... watching the old DR Phil just triggered a question in my mind...In jani's :"hallucinations"...which came first the number 400 or the cat...did she name the cat 400? if so why did she select numbers for her "friends"... did her friends tell her they were named numbers? Did the cat meow or talk?...etc etc etc..

Not that I can speak for all mental health professionals and all psychotics at once, but I've never once seen anyone with real psychosis i.e psychotic depression, bipolar w/ psychotic features, schizophrenia/schizoaffective interact with friendly dogs and cats the way Jani does.
It's always sinister rats and bugs and such. If a large proportion of psychotics saw cute and cuddly animal friends, the world of mental illness would be a better place. But unfortunately, we don't.

No one's perfect. I suspect that shit was the result of:
1. Dr. Phil trusting the diagnosis (he probably had no reason not to: psychologists are taught to take any diagnosis from another shrink seriously) and falling victim to confirmation bias.
2. The showrunners leaning on him to play up the "6-year old schizo" angle and Phil going with it because as far as he knew it was true and, well, he had his job to think of.
In the 5+ years since that episode aired, he's become a lot less of a puff-piece show and a lot more hard-hitting. Hopefully this means he's going to take Susan to the metaphorical cleaners.

I hope things have gotten better for Stacy, though of course the Parkinsons might not be making that easy. But at least she got away from the abusive husband and I'm glad the two of you are back on good terms. I hope she was able to keep up good relationships with her bio kids who Cory screwed her out of getting custody of. It sounds like he really put both of you through a bunch of unnecessary hard times and heartache. Both of you deserve to be surrounded by good people who love and care about you, and I hope that's where you both are now.

I think Jani's schizophrenia diagnosis is not only a very solid diagnosis for how she apparently acted at that age, but at this point I think it's set in stone.
Months of unadulterated access to her behavior and professionals figuring out how she operates, in UCLA, without Susan to coach her 24/7, plus DeAntonio and not some idiot doctor shopped quack doing the diagnosing, Phil really won't question it even this time round.

I think the episode will definitely center on Bodhi and general overmedication as anyone can see that kid isn't schizophrenic at all and doesn't need fucking clozapine.

Jani's diagnosis, we can debate, but as far as the medical professionals are concerned, is here to stay. Although her medication should definitely be toned down. I know adult institutionalized schizos who aren't on half what she's on.

I normally don't post in this thread (or even read much of it) because child abuse just flat out depresses me but I'm glad I caught up starting from the featured post because it was really enlightening hearing about what Husband #2 has always been like. I also want Dr Phil to tear these "parents" a new one.

What a turn of events!! Welcome, @ibewwife1990! I do appreciate your courage to share your story. I'm so sorry that you had bad childhood with Cory.

I am shocked that Dr. Phil is fliming so soon. I hope the episode and it's aftermath will do something good for the Scofields kids. I know im rainbowing here but they need to be placed with good environment with supportive adults. :optimistic:

with supportive adults around, Jani could have something as a life. But I just don't see a quick solution to this at all. Whatever we could ask for the kids to be taken away from S and C and maybe put in a foster family/facility? facility sounds better, but I'm not familiar with how those that works in the US.
Like right now, anything could happen but I don't see how these kids could recover in the short term. Which upsets me a lot, Jani was great when she was younger and Bodhi... well.. I do feel for him.
So much for damn luck

Batshit is still pushing for meds. And more of her friends are suspicious of Dr Shill (mods delete if already posted)

Edit: I posted in the wrong order. Tech dinosaur here.

I got a meh timeline of Bodhi's meds gathered from susan's facebook and her book. Michael's blog has more info I have yet to add.
The timeline is back on like page 400-402 maybe
I'll make the infographic for it Monday, hopefully the Leaks can get it down the line to Phil

I can just see Dr. Phil breaking out one of his trademark armor-piercers on set:
"You keep saying you want the right medication for your son; well, what if the 'right medication' is no medication? Would you be fine with that?"
