A transgender girl accused of assaulting two students at a Texas high school alleges that she was being bullied and was merely fighting back

Shocking video shows a student identified by police as Travez Perry violently punching, kicking and stomping on a girl in the hallway of Tomball High School.

The female student was transported to the hospital along with a male student, whom Perry allegedly kicked in the face and knocked unconscious.

According to the police report, Perry - who goes by 'Millie' - told officers that the victim has been bullying her and had posted a photo of her on social media with a negative comment.

One Tomball High School parent whose daughter knows Perry said that the 18-year-old had been the target of a death threat.

'From what my daughter has said that the girl that was the bully had posted a picture of Millie saying people like this should die,' the mother, who asked not to be identified by name, told DailyMail.com.

When Perry appeared in court on assault charges, her attorney told a judge that the teen has been undergoing a difficult transition from male to female and that: 'There's more to this story than meets the eye.'

Perry is currently out on bond, according to authorities.

The video of the altercation sparked a widespread debate on social media as some claim Perry was justified in standing up to her alleged bullies and others condemn her use of violence.

The mother who spoke with DailyMail.com has been one of Millie's most ardent defenders on Facebook.

'I do not condone violence at all. But situations like this show that people now a days, not just kids, think they can post what they want. Or say what they want without thinking of who they are hurting,' she said.

'Nobody knows what Millie has gone through, and this could have just been a final straw for her. That is all speculation of course because I don't personally know her or her family, but as a parent and someone who is part of the LGBTQ community this girl needs help and support, not grown men online talking about her private parts and shaming and mocking her.'

One Facebook commenter summed up the views of many, writing: 'This was brutal, and severe! I was bullied for years and never attacked anyone!'

Multiple commenters rejected the gender transition defense and classified the attack as a male senselessly beating a female.

One woman wrote on Facebook: 'This person will get off because they're transitioning. This is an animal. She kicked, and stomped, and beat...not okay. Bullying is not acceptable, but kicking someone in the head. Punishment doesn't fit the crime.'

Not to mention that donor uteruses aren’t exactly common. It’s a bitch to get a “common” donor organ like a kidney, something that’s singular like a uterus I can only imagine finding a compatible (and willing, or dead) donor, even for women, is a bitch.

A transgender woman in New Orleans is speaking out about the struggles she and others face on a daily basis and how a new affordable health care facility will help make their lives better.

She says one of the most critical issues is a lack of access to health care.

CrescentCare's new $23 million facility is set to officially open Saturday.

The facility offers affordable health care for people from all backgrounds and ages.

It also has a focus on the transgender community.

"People yelling that they would push you in front of a car if you are at the bus stop. People talking about that they would rather see you dead on the sidewalk than alive in a building," Rachel Chamness said. "I go outdoors thinking I hope no one tries to kill me in the middle of the street."

Those are some of the daily struggles Chamness says she faces.

She was born a man but identifies as a woman. After coming out as trans she says her parents disowned her.

"I was largely homeless. I was unemployed lacked an income," Chamness said.

Chamness said she had went without health care for years and received necessary care at CrescentCare's other facility, which is much smaller than this new facility.

"I got the first comprehensive health care I had gotten in years Let's get you a mammogram. Let's get you an STI screening. Let's get you an HIV test, a hepatitis C test. Let's check your blood sugar all of your basic health care that I had to ignore for years because I didn't have the ability to afford it. I wept openly. I was in the exam room with my nurse and a nurse practitioner."

"The goal of this building was to give us more capacity to see more individuals in the community that need access to primary care and behavioral health services. It has quadrupled the number of exam rooms that we are able to offer," Noel Twileback, CEO of CrescentCare, said.

The new facility at 1631 Elysian Fields opens Saturday at 11 a.m.

A mother was arrested in front of her children and locked up for seven hours after referring to a transgender woman as a man online.

Three officers detained Kate Scottow at her home before quizzing her at a police station about an argument with an activist on Twitter over so-called 'deadnaming'.

The 38-year-old, from Hitchin, Hertfordshire, had her photograph, DNA and fingerprints taken and remains under investigation.

More than two months after her arrest on December 1, she has had neither her mobile phone or laptop returned, which she says is hampering her studies for a Masters in forensic psychology.

'I was then detained for seven hours in a cell with no sanitary products (which I said I needed) before being interviewed then later released under investigation ... I was arrested for harassment and malicious communications because I called someone out and misgendered them on Twitter.'

Confirming the arrest, Hertfordshire Police said: 'We take all reports of malicious communication seriously.'

The case is the latest where police have been accused of being heavy-handed in dealing with people who go online to debate gender issues.

Sitcom writer Graham Linehan was given a verbal harassment warning by West Yorkshire Police after transgender activist Stephanie Hayden reported him for referring to her by her previous names and pronouns on Twitter.

She is also alleged to have used accounts in two names to 'harass, defame, and publish derogatory and defamatory tweets' about Miss Hayden, including referring to her as male, stating she was 'racist, xenophobic and a crook' and mocking her as a 'fake lawyer'.

Mrs Scottow denied harassing or defaming Miss Hayden and said she holds a 'genuine and reasonable belief' that a human 'cannot practically speaking change sex', but Deputy Judge Jason Coppel QC issued an interim injunction that bans her from posting any personal information about Miss Hayden on social media, 'referencing her as a man' or linking her to her 'former male identity'.

Mrs Scottow last night declined to comment.
