One other aspect of Morrowind I really liked was how it dealt with the concept of prophecy.

In Morrowind it is left ambiguous if the player is actually a resurrected god king or just some guy who happens to fulfill the ancient prophecies. Indeed at the very end you have a conversation with Dagoth Ur prior to fighting him where he asks you "Are you really Nerevar reborn?" and the player can answer "By the grace of gods and fate, I am Nerevar reborn.", "I'm a loyal servant of the Emperor.", "I am a self-willed hero, and I make my own fate." and "I know no more than you do."

Anyone here ever tried to make a character build in Daggerfall? Anyone here have anything to share about Daggerfall? Just to leave something related to it:
In case anyone likes to try a custom build via what this guy shows.

There's a lot of really good builds in Daggerfall

Actually one of the biggest problems the game has is it's character creation system. In that it is absurdly easy to gimp your character if you pick terrible/broken skills that are near impossible to level. Like all the language skills like dragonish/giantish etc which require being in close proximity to specific enemies and having them avoid turning hostile to level up.

The game gets really enjoyable once you create a character that is actually pretty good at fighting. And I do genuinely like Daggerfall's combat system. You get used to the whole "Drag the mouse to attack" premise pretty quickly and it does add another layer onto the fight where you're frantically moving your mouse every which way.

So yeah, google a Daggerfall build that you like and base a character off that, I don't recommend creating one from scratch unless you're willing to experiment/restart several times.

In regards to builds, the guy in the vid I linked did make one a few years back when he went by a different name (which he mentions). Said build took advantage of the High Elf paralysis immunity with the critical weakness to it along with including some skills like short blade. As you said, the character creation can end up giving you a gimped character if you pick useless skills. Considering how some skills are such as the language skills or the speech skills (etiquette and streetsmarts), they are better off being unused since really, language only prevents attacks from certain creatures and the speech ones are redundant when it just comes asking the same thing to an NPC such as the location of a shop or person. Only other thing unique with Daggerfall in its character creation was giving your own character a background which can differ, from being a lowly orphan urchin to being a youth who adventures out only to kill a cannibal and rescue a son of the emperor.

Just to leave this for anyone who hasn't played Daggerfall yet: If you plan to choose a race to play as, understand the trade-offs as some races have certain advantages like High Elves with paralysis (which helps against some deadlier foes like liches and vampires) or Argonians with poison (sadly, no underwater breathing).

Can I post screenshots? I play Skyrim a lot and as a sort of side hobby, I like to "photograph" in game. Mostly things with my characters doing your typical, cool action poses and whatnot.

Go ahead!

I was playing Skyrim, but I recently decided to sell it. I've had it up to here with it's bugs and it just doesn't fit with my gameplay style. You can't not play it for more than a week and remember what the fuck you were doing.

I highly recommend getting the PC version.

To my knowledge it's a lot more stable and there's an unofficial patch that fixes a lot of the more obscure bugs in the game.

Anyway the game is mostly focused on exploration, so I can understand why it would turn some people off. I do recommend trying it again on the PC with modifications though.

Unfortunately I don't think my laptop has enough RAM to support it. I can't even run Fallout 3 on it without signifigant lag on low to moderate settings, and the draw distance is awful on low settings.

Good luck! Daggerfall is great, but there are a lot of game breaking bugs! You may need to find a save editor, just in case Daggerfall decides to remove quest items from the game world before you can complete the quest!

Unfortunately, I found out my video card isn't good enough to use those fancy ENBs I heard about. Oh well. :sigh:
