The Elder Scrolls

I don't get why people argue over TES canon when large parts of it are retconned in every single release. In case everyone forgot, asking an Imperial about Cyrodiil in Morrowind causes them to regurgitate bits from the pocket guide to the empire (first edition) which describes the region as almost endless jungle with savanna covering the Gold Coast and Colovian Highlands, but in the very next game this description was completely retconned and Cyrodiil was mostly temperate forest and grassland with some jungle in the southern region. They explained this away by saying Talos used his chim to transform the region, but if that was the case how did the Imperials in Morrowind forget about that? I mean, they were talking about their homeland where they grew up, you would think they would know what it looks like. Or hell, what about the whole "As the cosmopolitan seat of the Empire there is no race associated with the Imperial Provence" thing? TES canon is the most pointless thing to argue over, you might as well argue what the shape of the clouds are because they're just as liable to change.

I never got why they tried to make Cyrodill a generic forest with occasional rain, but I presume it's because
Bethesda wanted the casual audience and added forests to make it look like LOTR which was still going strong at the time.

Anyways, here's some TES lore to se how deep shit goes.

As a mostly-casual TES player with not too much advanced knowledge about the lore, I gotta say this was a hell of a read and it actually kind of hurt my head.

It only gets deeper.
here's a brief summary of c0da, which is Kirkbride's writing on how the apocalypse should happen.
once you're more familiar with the lore, you will find understand the significance and how it ties with the lore of the games.

also the khajiit and imperials had a space program to reach on of the moons.

This needs to be a KSP mod!
it happened around the first era.
basically, the khajiit realized their moon sugar comes from Secunda.
Khajiit get high off moon sugar so they can get in touch with Lorkhan's conciouss or some shit.
all the khajiit of Elsweyr get high off moon sugar and start climbing on top of eachother to reach the moon.
because they love moon sugar, they can walk perfectly on what is essentially a Cocaine Moon.

I can't remember the imperial side of the story, but they had to use space suits if they didn't want to OD on moon dust. (real life physics do not apply to TES universe.)
also their rocket was a giant moth shaped space ship

Whether or not one does give a care about the canon, it did rile up people. Just look at the Online game and how it handled the lore. If you didn't care, you might be called a "scrollocaust denier". The lore may as well bring one's inner sperg.

Oh no Bethesda retconned again! those bastards! When will they learn that the lore is the most important thing in a series?!

When they treat it like it's the holy grail even though there retcons could include something like making the Imperials a race and making all Khajiit beyond Daggerfall not look like a western version of an animu cat-girl/cat-boy and more like furries? I think I can see why one would see C0DA as an "end" to the canon war that has fans sperging over lore and its canon.

I was going to stop by and say I just completed Oblivion (as in main quest, all the faction missions, all the daedra artifacts collected, plus beat the Shivering Isles) , and how I really came to enjoy the experience, but ony to find we're talking about brony mods and theories about interdimensional universes within the minds of gods, and I'm like fuck it.

Me and my ninja Redguard are gonna go back and kill some bandits.

Considering how we veered off to something related to mods I may as ask anyone who plays any of the games: What mods do you play Oblivion, Skyrim, or Morrowind with?

For Skyrim, get SkyUi. It makes the inventory system not be stupid. I also throw in some pony mods because of the inherent hilarity of watching a cute little ponies setting vikings on fire.

SkyUI is a Skyrim mod that is recommended since it does make the inventory system less clunky. I use some face mods to have better looking Skyrim characters (though mostly to make my character look like a guy in his twenties rather than in his thirties or forties). As for other games in the series, I used a headpack for Morrowind (Westly Master Head Pack, it adds a lot of hairs and faces to the game).
