Ok, this is depressing. I'm glad Michael offered Jani a trip of Minnesota. That's a positive move in my book. But, damn, does it break my heart she'd rather stay with Creepy Cory in The Hovel.
I think part of it is that Susan has scared Jani about the idea of going to Minnesota in 101 ways. Jani lives with Susan, so enraging and “betraying” her by going to Minn is scary because once the visit is over she has to return to angry manic Susan.
Susan has used the kids to force Mike to come to CA by claiming Jani could not possibly travel to visit him. If Jani agreed to go she ruins one of Susan’s tools to try and control Mike. Susan desperately wants to keep Mike in her life and enjoys the drama his visits give her. If all she did was drop Jani off at the airport to meet him she doesn’t get any drama or interaction.
I can’t even fathom the BS Susan has fed to Jani to ensure she is to terrified or worried to ever go visit him. She is a horrible bitch so there is no limit to what lies she would tell Jani to ensure she never wants to visit. But besides all that Jani knows Susan would make her life miserable and resent her if she ever went to visit Mike at his home.
(As for the California stuff, the one bad thing specific to CA is that somehow Susan has managed to get paid to (badly) care for her own kids in addition to staff to bathe, babysit and provide therapy. These services are for kids with actual disabilities, not because Susan can’t arsed to act like a mother. The most they should have provided is parenting classes for Susan and some therapy hours. I’d love to know how she got approved for all those services and wages simply for being a terrible mother who drugs her kids. I promise the mothers in poor neighborhoods with tarded kids aren’t getting 40 hours of state paid babysitting, someone to give their kids bath and a paycheck. )
I hope Cory packs a fucking u-haul and leaves while batshit isn't there to stop him. As much as it would hurt Jani, he's not going to suddenly be nice to her. His pride is still very hurt after behaving like an imbecile on Dr. Phil and having his daughter on KF. It seems possible he could snap and take his anger out on Jani.
Hope Jani doesn't "lose" her phone while Susan is away.

I really wish Michael could do something to get the SZ diagnosis tf off Jani. Google image search for Susan schofield shows tons of images of "jani, the schizo". How unflattering, unfair, and unkind to label her for so long that now even searching her mom's name comes up with nothing but embarrassing labels.
Susan, and Mike for awhile, never considered how much harm they were doing by publicly promoting their daughter as Anerica’s Littlest Schizo or the craziest little girl in California. All they thought about was themselves, the trouble and inconvenience she caused them and using her to get on TV and sell books. It was easy to use the excuse as being “advocates” and they even tried to turn that into a money maker.
I do wonder how much living with a non-manic, non-fame whore wife and mother has changed Mike’s perceptions. The new baby will provide even more revelations as Mike sees a thousand and one normal baby behaviors that Susan claimed were proof of mental illness when it was only evidence of Susan’s mental illness.
Sadly, Susan’s totally inept mothering, manic behavior and lack of boundaries probably did lead to bad and “out of control” behavior in a young Jani. The strong encouragement of her talking about a fantasy world was looney. The general chaos, constant stimulation and inability to soothe baby Jani was bound to cause disturbed behavior.
