@xtamarlover whats new, besides that?

Well, so I quit my job back in November 2018. I got a temp warehouse job in December 2018. I decided to reward myself for making it through a tough year so I spent like $3000 in credit stuff. Worth it but its been a bit burdensome making the payments, which is about $400 a month in credit card payments. They temporarily let me go after only two weeks at the warehouse. So I was biding my time, waiting to look for a new job. Then about a month later they called me and asked if I wanted to go back in a different position. I said yes. So I have been there now for 4 weeks this Friday. However, my friend who lent me money for the stocks wants $2000 of his money back, so I am going to be sending him about $400 every month for 5 months. I also owe my dad about $900 in phone payments. And I owe about $600 for a loan I took from my life insurance policy. On top of that, back in November 2018 I hired a friend of mine in India to do work for me. I pay him $250 a month. All of this is incredibly burdensome. So I have not been able to really do anything with the stocks. As of right now, I make about $100 every month from the monthly dividend of the stock that I have shares in. So its really overwhelming financially. But I am confident I can recover from all these financial things in a few months. I am going to put most of my remaining money I get in paychecks to paying off debt. Problem is I have to keep making smaller purchases like buying groceries, bus pass, and occasionally date night stuff. But I am avoiding major expenses until I am back on my feet.

My relationship is still about the same. Going well but future very fuzzy due to our different perspectives on life. If it were up to me it wouldn't matter, but to her it matters so its not clear where our future lies.

Until you have no debt, you can't afford to hire people do to do work for you. What kind of work is this friend doing?

Primarily making lists or making documents organizing things for me. For example, the current project which we have just about finished is taking a list of Old English texts published by the DOE project, and relisting it in a more concise way that is more relevant to my studies. Future projects may include a list of Greek texts, a list of Latin texts, a list of Coptic texts, etc. Also perhaps lists of video games, lists of movies, lists of music artists and their albums/songs. Eventually I want him to do scribal work for me, including collation, editing, and in some instances, translation.

Jesus, dude.

You realize that because of your entitled smarmy "I deserve it" credit card spree, combined with paying minimum interest payments, your "$250" expense for this guy is actually a ton more, right? If you were putting that extra $250 per month toward your credit card debt, you'd eliminate it much faster with much less interest paid to your credit card company.

Once a lolcow, always a lolcow.

I am trying to pay off the debt with the remaining money as soon as possible. I make about $1500 a month.

So if I have to spend $250 a month for the one friend and $400 for the other friend, that should still leave me about $600-800 to put towards credit card stuff each month.

Do you not understand compound interest?

It's smarter to focus on your own debts first, since it allows for times of plenty to occur more often since you ultimately have to put down less money.

He clearly doesn’t understand that lmao. His response will try to refute this and try to validate his actions through some bizarre logic.

To be fair and play devil's advocate here, the fact he has debt and wants to tackle it means he's better off than most 89% of people who are in debt because they just couldn't say no to Walmart credit cards and Fingerhut accounts.

Sure thing, but Andrew doesn’t particularly strike me as the responsible type, when it comes to credit cards. I mean, it sounds like he thinks he’s running a Ponzi scheme in his head that will somehow work out.

I know but I made a promise to give back the money i borrowed from my friend immediately if needed. Him letting me send him $2000 of his money back over five months instead of all at once is a compromise I got him to agree to. So instead of giving him $2000 from my stock I am giving $2000 from my paychecks, so that will make $2000 of the stocks mine. As for paying my friend of 5 or so years, I hired him at his request and plea because he is desperate and has very little other source of income since he is living illegally in India. So I feel obligated ti help him out by doing this. Otherwise I feel like I wouldnt be a good friend. I sometimes pay him $100 in some months to make it easier for me and the remaining $150 I send at a later date when its more convenient for me.

I am seeking to pay everything off asap so I am trying to pay off the credit cards. Im paying off the cards with less debt first and then will pay off the ones with more debt.

I have a fingerhut account but dont use it
He literally spent $3000 he didn't have because he wanted to reward himself for quitting a job and getting a 2-week seasonal stint at a warehouse. How is that better than not saying no to Fingerhut?

I have a fingerhut account but i don't use it cause the prices are utterly ridiculous.

I spent $3000 because it was a shitty year and wanted something nice to make me feel better. Not something I would do all the time.
