Yeah, the religious-right held an enormous amount of power in US politics well into the 80s and early 90s. You're witnessing the twilight of fundamentalism as a political power in the US. They've been gradually losing the culture war to the progressive left over a span of decades now.

Japan has worked a bit differently. The center-right and right has maintained political power continuously since 1945. The Liberal Democratic Party (the largest political party in Japan, by a country mile) is absolutely not liberal by western standards.

The reason I brought up Superbook is to cite an example of how anybody can contract with the Japanese for animation. Even dopes like Pat Robertson. They are happy to whore their talents out when the gaijin shows up with money.

However, whores don't automatically adopt the ideology of their johns.

So Trunks and Vageta hate each other IRL? The plot thickens.

Ethan Van Sciver joined the stream. This is getting even better.

I'm warming up to "Weeb Wars" even if it's a broad stroke given that true weebs don't tarnish their glorious Nippon cartoons with voices by the gaijin across the Pacific.

She wanted attention and she's getting it, whether she likes it or not. She may have not been the catalyst, but if her friends in Funimation tipped her off to this before it happened so she can get the scoop, it's not gonna end well for her. For all we know, they may have done it to have a convenient scapegoat.

I actually agree pretty strongly with @Secret Asshole on this one.

Historically, when your average SocJus-infected piece of media failed, most of the time, the usual suspects just pretended it hadn't done so or immediately had a sperg-fit on social media (see also: Tale of Tales). However, as time has gone on, bigger and bigger projects that were supposed to be some kind of culture war centerpiece for them failed. A Revolution 60 or a Sunset failing can be shrugged off. Hundreds of indie devs can fail and no one would bat an eye. A few Netflix shows can crash and burn and no one will care.

But recent failures have been the kind that economically, can't be ignored. When you lose half a billion fucking dollars or cause the stock of your company to crater by over 20%, it's time to stop for a moment and ask if all that is really worth bankrupting your ass over.

It's easy for them to do it because it's not THEIR money.

That's true in a lot of cases, but the main issue here is one of leadership (or lack thereof). While a number of companies have seen failure because they don't control their danger hairs, the responsibility for failing to do that rests entirely on said leadership.

So I don't feel the slightest pang of sympathy if the company gets fucked financially because they won't put their tards on a leash. In time, and with enough money lost, the greatest degree of resistance these people will face will come from their own employers.

I think that's when they'll try and morph this SJW bullshit into a generic anti-capitalist crusade. At which point, good luck finding a job anywhere of note.

Vic is just really huggy. I've met him a few times and both times he gave me a hug (male). It's kinda funny that being huggy and being a cunt to con staff (this has been well known for a LOOOOOONG time) = sexual assault. What a time we live in.

As former anime con staff, many times over, let me be the first to say that I've seen some of them power trip and deserve to be bitch slapped.

Pensacon sounds like they have an outright God complex.

I dunno if that is Vic's specific issue, but there ya go.

lmfao, this is nothing new. These two are just fucking around, it's like calling a friend bitch or asshole, it's not that goddamned serious.

I do volunteer at two cons Vic's either been at or been banned from and he's someone that absolutely needs to be bitchslapped. At the con he's still invited to he has a special group of volunteers that are basically hired security that are either used because a voice actor has insane fans (like Matt Mercer) or is a pain in the fucking ass and a total cunt to staff (like Vic). None of guest relations likes working with Vic. None of us.

For the other, he got his ass banned from the con because he was overstepping and basically abusing volunteers and being a right cunt about everything. Like throwing tantrums over shit he didn't get because it wasn't in the goddamned contract. More or less he's an entitled manbaby that thinks he's hot shit when he's absolutely not.

from what I have read in some forums discussing this mess, apparently Funimation has tried to distance themselves from him in the past due to these stories and would only call him to reprise old roles like Edward Elric and Broly, but that died down and they started to give him new roles again.
Apparently Cynthia Cranz(the voice of Chi-chi in Dragon Ball and Botan in Yu Yu Hakusho)was asked about Vic and said she never had any issues with him nor witnessed some improper behavior, but she still doesn't understand how many people at Funimation have problems with him and yet those complains were ignored until now.

So was he also raping people?

Or are you saying con staff have a pretty strong motivation to want to get rid of Vic because they personally hate him?

That's literally not what I'm saying one way or the other. The one he was banned from was years ago and was because he was acting like a fucking manbaby and was not worth the trouble. The one he has the different handlers for is because he's a goddamned idiot pain in the ass.

He's just that, an entitled pain in the ass, I don't and never claimed, that I know jack crap about the allegations otherwise.
