It is bullshit and DSP knows it which is why he is so vague. I knew a guy who had his own business and he made a metric fuckload of money one year and the IRS came knocking because his predicted taxes weren’t even close to adding up. All they did was send a letter, he called some government peon, and a payment plan was set up. Uncle Sam only cares about actually getting their money, they’re very happy to work with you to get it paid. You’re a nobody, they ain’t gonna fuck with you unless they have to.

You might have to pay a penalty, sure, but they’ll work that into the payment plan so you aren’t fucked.

Been in that situation too. They were perfectly happy to take $200 a month until the several thousand dollars was paid off. It's all electronic at this point, so it's super easy for them.

I legitimately cannot understand DSP's reasoning about why he can't "afford" a payment plan, but instead has to pay it all at one time.

I would think that DSP would just be doing it because it's a good crisis to drive donations, but for some reason I get the feeling that DSP is serious about him not being able to just make payments.

The dude basically seems to spend 120% of all income coming in with little regard toward what he's spending it on and has done it for his entire adult life, so who knows, maybe some combination of his accountant, his contact at the tax office, or Phil himself doesn't trust that he'll follow through with a payment plan.

Or, more likely, "I need $16k in the next 5 months" worked better than "I need $200 extra a month for eternity" and when he told that lie last begging season he didn't really plan this next couple months out, but it's paid off handsomely so far, so why not run the mudhole dry?

There could be something to this.

I seriously think that DSP doesn't see taxes as a percentage of his income; I think he sees them as a giant bill that's presented to him every year. That's why he keeps complaining that the more money he makes the more the bill increases and to him its a never ending cycle.

You would THINK a 36-year-old man whose already been doing this for 10 years would by now have learned to set aside 25-40% of his income in the bank to pay these taxes. Maybe even get some six-month certificates even at 1% yield. But DSP has shown a complete unwillingness to plan for even the immediate future.

We are jealous of him because Phil is living the American Dream. Phil is the ultimate underdog, shunned from the helicopter factory but through hard work and determination managed to get himself into massive debt and create his own little reality/prison in a small corner of Reston, Washington with a good (insane) woman by his side. He is a living Lifetime movie. Next Christmas we will all be watching "Goutopia: A journey of triumph and delusion".
not gonna lie this could pass as the first draft of the room

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if Phil was suddenly subjected to a major power outage that lasted days. His income is entirely dependent on playing games and without power, he can't do that.
He'd go to Seattle for a few days and once he returned he'd beg for compensation for the days that he not only wasn't working, but was having a nice little break from his miserable life.

So is Kat off for 3 straight days? If not, will you be doing chores alone? What a bizarre ALL CAPS alert that none of his fans should know or care about.

Do other streamers have a shedule one week ahead? Well I guess if your only thing is playing NEW games, you should... but its not set in stone.
What about others? Even if you have a plan for next week, do you write it on a board?

Why not just have a normal calendar on his "office" wall or somewhere else? Besides, there's no need to write what you're planning on having as a lunch, just have notebook or something if you're being that OCD about your meals.

kinda hard to read sat and mon so not completely sure. but from the looks of this, all phil had to do for an entire week was take out trash and bring the cans back in. and its such a big chore he has to write it down to remember to do it. what a joke.

Saturday seems to be his day off. Since he is a creature of habit to an autistic degree this is probably very similar to his current days off if not exactly the same. This was back on the mean streets of Connecticut so the stores might not be the same, but we have
-Fred Meyer which is like a Walmart
-Safeway which is a grocery store
-(Something) Shopping, my guess is "game" which he doesn't do anymore
-Out to eat
Pretty much what people figured he did down to him considering errands spending time with the soul mate.

I genuinly believe that.
Sometime during the first "Tax-Saga" Dave claimed that even if he would make 1 million a month, he still would be broke if he had to pay 1 million and 1 in bills.

So in his mind, it doesn't matter how much he makes, he will still be broke because he would spend everything on "bills".

This man has a "Business degree" and still doesn't know how to safe money (:_(

On the Jump Force stream, someone asked him about Yu Yu Hakusho and Dave replied that it is a good show and that he has all seasons on DVD.
"has", not "had".

That stuff looks more to me that Phil is trying to look like he's a professional. No one else writes this sort of shit because who needs to schedule what food they're making unless you have a big family. Total speculation I know, but it seems rather Phil wants to make it look like he's organised but because he has literally fuck all going on in his life aside from netflix and begging on the internet, the only thing he can look like he's 'busy' with is basic chores and food.

This is the saddest Real Mature Adult schedule I've ever seen.

I keep a monthly calendar but it's because I have to keep up on things like ordering meds and vet appointments and when vehicles are due for service. I definitely don't need to remind myself to take the trash out or that at some point I need to buy groceries.

Phil seems to struggle a lot with object permanance.

Related, why the fuck does he need to be writing this shit down anyway? This video is from after the move to Washington isn't it? The dude's had a smartphone at least since then and he doesn't even put it to use except to obsess over his tip notifications, to look up walkthroughs while his stream is live and to play mobile scams games. Just like everything else - needs to have some expensive gadget and won't use it for a tenth of the things it's capable of doing.

ETA:

:powerlevel: but you want to know where I've seen whiteboarded schedules like this? Group homes. And even then they were more full. Phil has less to do in a day than retards making macaroni art.

Because he wants to feel busy because he does literally nothing outside of streaming. He wants to justify whining to his piggies on twitter about barely having time to shower and eat before/after streaming.

IMO he's just used to this lifestyle for 10 years and forgot how easy what he does is. Especially now when he's at an all time low for giving a fuck and putting in effort. He doesn't have to make edited videos and he can sell whatever he is doing on stream as "kwahlity chill stream" to his brain dead piggies regardless of how boring or low-effort it can be (the retrospective).

But there's no end-game for that. I can't see where he's headed with this mentality if he intends on being a full-time streamer forever. Maybe he's waiting for his parents to pass away to take the inheritance. Maybe the 16k has been a straight scam and he's stacking up money so he can just disappear from the internet one day and ride the horse towards the sunset while the credits roll. Maybe he's delusional and thinks paypigs are actually personally obliged to send him money forever and he doesn't realize that pignosis doesn't last forever.

I don't know man, this show is unpredictable.

To me it's not so much an if but rather a when. Like Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings, you can probably suppose what the final climax will be but the hows of getting there are harder to guess. Phil is up to his tits in bad credit card debt, mortgage payments on the house, paying for the condo and his own fucking terrible spending habits, meanwhile trying to spin all these plates with constant begging on the internet. Anyone can see that this will come crashing down, maybe a Tut or E7 appears now and then but every year for ten years? Even if he manages to refinance all his debts, he's his own worst enemy at spending money and likely just get more cards to buy pointless shit with. Hell, he's enough of a rube to fall for those great introductory offers then be stunned when the deal turns out to be not in his favor.
Not to mention his complete inability to understand how taxes or accounting works, for someone that manages a fairly simple stream of income rather than running a real actual business with turnovers, ins and outs, etc. he manages to fuck it up pretty damn well.

The only thing that might pull Phil out of his slow trip down the plughole is if his parents die and they leave enough assets for him to sell off to pay off most of his debt.

But even after that, will Phil change his behavior? No. He'll still get hamstrung every tax season, get more credit to buy dumb shit and be back to square 1 in less than a couple of years. He'll be back in that dreaded condo, Kat will flee to pastures new and still with a huge amount of debt hanging over him.

Why does he have "TAKE OUT TRASH/TAKE IN CANS!" in all caps? Only time I write like that is when I constantly forget said thing lol.

And wasn't he just shit talking his garbage men the other day for being "inept" at their job and having issues with his trash being picked up? Yeah okkkay buddy.

I'll never be able to find this but as I started watching Phil, one of the first moments that made me go "wtf is wrong with this guy?" actually involved waste disposal at his then-new place Washington.

He was ranting at the camera, disparaging the disposal company because he was leaving out his waste containers (I'm guessing the colors of the carts are grey, blue, and green) but one (a small green bucket) was not being picked up. The small bucket was left full and Phil was left notes that if he needed more service he had to order a larger bin. So he started complaining to the 'homeowner's association' or whatever and had scheduled an appointment to talk with them. I never heard what came of the meeting, but obviously the solution:
