Look, I'll be frank here.
Hate the "Gate" trend as much as you want (lord knows I find it detestable and agree with
@Archeopthryx that #Animetoo is far funnier), but you'd find the same assholes attacking
any dissent, no matter what it chose to label itself or how they chose to organize. Even if those critical of a position chose
not to complain under a single unified banner, which
has fucking happened before (see also: Ghostbusters 2016, TLJ, etc),
they'll get grouped in and dismissed whole hog. This is the current tactic for the Twitter-addicted shithole brigade: Label any criticism as illegitimate and harassment, regardless of source, context, or underlying cause. Never address the actual concerns because that would require acknowledging that those bitching have a point.
We've seen this shit, over and over again, over the last five years. Even if someone openly and completely apolitically dismantles the situation and calls it out for what it is (as happened with James Rolfe, RedLetterMedia, et al), they'll be labeled part of the problem, dismissed as a harasser, and attacked. It doesn't matter whether or not they organize, and if so, what label they give themselves. The shitheads are going to label them all harassers, blame all problems on them, and whine about how they're evil incarnate, because the shitheads that keep doing this crap have nothing else.
