Jesus christ. This was from 2017? Just goes to show how isolated weebdom is from the rest of society. This is...disturbing. on many levels. But the most disturbing thing to me is this is a violation of fidelity. Fidelity in the artistic sense means to be faithful to the intentions of the artist. When it comes to translation however, fidelity is not just something that is needed. It's a sacred duty.
The reason people used to learn foreign languages in ye olden times and even in the modern era, is to bridge the gap between people divided by language. For the religious, it is to make manifest the commands of God as written by his followers. This is what makes bible translations so fraught. For diplomats, it is to insure the words of one ruler are not misconstrued by another as fighting words that will get a ton of people killed. Translation is not just a menial task. A translator has a duty that borders upon the religious to be faithful to the word and intent of the message he is translating.
What is shown in this youtube video, trite, weeb drama, clearly meaningless in the broad scope of things, has only one word to describe it.
Heresy.
Some vile human being deliberately mistranslated a work of art, to fill the dictates of a political agenda not supported by that art. They did so knowingly. In so doing they betrayed the sacred trust people held in them to hold true fidelity to the work they were viewing.
Such a betrayal is vile, and an affront to the collective memory of man. It is heresy, and should be burned as such. Even if it is meaningless weebshit. Because heresy always prospers first in the mundane. Because the mundane does not matter. Right? But it is in the mud of the mundane that we let evil prosper, and grow, and only when it blooms upon what really matters do we notice. But by then it is too late.

Well it is a kids show all about esoteric Japanese yokai that probably wouldn't appeal to many people. I can buy they gave it a gag dub because they figured Americans wouldn't know or care about the stuff, so I dunno why they need to lie about anything else.

Defamation? Come on now, as much as EVS has fallen in love with the youtube drama, I don't think he's dumb enough to bullshit with the FBI for clicks. If he says the FBI agent didn't have reports about the bombing until they contacted EVS, unless Pensacola PD is spectacularly shitty with paperwork, I'm inclined to believe him.

I've found that more child friendly VAs for franchises from Disney and Nintendo have been a lot better than those who star in mostly anime. I've met Charles Martinet and Bill Farmer, the voice of Mario and Goofy respectively, and they actually were really funny and nice and answered a few questions I had (Bill even did the Sam voice when I asked him about why he could never reprise the role in Sam and Max's Telltale series of games, giving me a lesson about unions.) My first and only (currently) con was my favorite but I feel with all this coming out it'll be a lot different.
