One of the subs Merari moderates is /r/Eyebleach, a non-political sub where people post cute images of animals. Merari allowed a picture of cop dog to be posted, but this was too triggering for Nyk's far left troon fans who hate cops and hate cop dogs, so they decided to brigade /r/ContraPoints to avenge themselves for the picture of the cop dog. Merari determined that the brigading originated from people who are active on /r/ChapoTrapHouse (a sub associated with a far left adjacent podcast which has interviewed Nyk) so he implemented a bot to block the brigade. People cried foul at being pre-emptively banned and it became a shitshow.
