It's extra hypocritical when you realise that Barbie has had dozens of careers since her inception. Doctor, veterinarian, fashion designer, ambassador, ballerina, army officer and many, many more. She's lived by herself, with friends and with Ken. He-Man has been... He-Man. The only alternative I can think of is Action Man, which did offer boys a choice of career, as long as it was a military career.

Even if you don't follow Gamergate, most people are aware there can be an issue with people jumping the gun over the slightest of happenings. Many Gators are so eager to have wins that they don't verify things, and issues like the Nick Denton Batman Villain fake memo were a real wake-up call for the movement.

So it is with a heavy heart that I must report Brianna Wu has fallen victim to this as well, for failing to verify the praising emails before she re-posts them on twitter and her tumblr.

This really is fascinating to me because Brianna is so obsessed with her social media presence, with being seen the victim AND the victor, that she -

1. won't verify anything that is sent to her if it paints her in any kind of flattering light
2. won't listen to anyone who tries to tell her something might be false
   
3. won't remove anything even if it was proven false (this tweet is still up as of this writing)

I have nothing to say on the whole GamerGate thing and Wu's presence there, really, I don't ever have much of a horse in that race, so I'll share something else that occurred to me a little while ago:

The psychology behind Wu's styling is either really weird, or entirely nonexistent.

Never mind the fact that the style she's using isn't working very well because all her heroines look like Whoville is trying to make its own Charlie's Angels out of PVC, never mind that lots of games use very similar body types, like a bunch of the Bioware RPGs, to cut down on production costs, processor strain and time by using generic bones under similarly-proportioned models, and as noble as suddenly deciding to alter everybody is, it will take more time and effort than Wu might be ready for.

Just back up for a second and think: what specifically is wrong with your heroines, or your heroes for that matter, looking photogenic? You'll be looking at them most of the time, right, so they need to look good just for the sake of the audience. It's why most movie stars and leads still look good. Hell, it's why a huge chunk of the unsubs on Criminal Minds look way better than criminals like them would in all likelihood look in real life. All Brianna would really need to do is tweak their designs so they look less like industrial Miranda Lawson runoff and a good deal less generic, and then explain in a line or two, why the looks: maybe Holiday takes pride in her appearance just because it suits her. Maybe she regards a disarming appearance as a tool, or maybe all of Chessboard does. Maybe Chessboard favors the fast approach over the forceful one so armor gives way to sneaking suits. Whatever. Little details can sketch a picture if you're clever about it.

I know, I know, Wu's proven time and time again that she's no writer or director, but these are the things a real developer or game director would be thinking about. This is what I think about all the time, and I'm just an amateur whose hobby is making up designs and writeups. And amusingly, it's the characters I've come up with with friends who are designed in ways that would absolutely piss off Brianna that got the most development, and the most interesting stories, but that's neither here nor there...

What a fucking cow. She is like those western people in islamist organizations. New converts like to be extra fanatic to prove their loyalty to senpai, while this campus creep gets rid of the peepee and has to prove to his new onee-samas, how he is a true and honest woman. But it's always the losers whining about the "boy's club". You don't see the successful harp on about the patriarchy and white cishet scum. The reason why Wu is not successful like the boys is, because R60 sucks, with its 1990s graphics, subpar "game" mechanics and ass boring SJW narrative and stupid "characters". Same goes for Quinn. And don't get me started on Sarkeesian. If someone drags women through the mud, it's them.

I much prefer women like Based Mom, Karen Straughan, Honeybadger or ShoeOnHead. Regardless of their points, they don't present themselves as screeching cunts, they don't demand special treatment and they make the superior points.
