The most I can say is thanks Ralph, you inspired me to start doing some exercise so I dont grow a gunt.

If I may get /fit/ on you for a brief moment. I can't remember where I read it but someone did a study on calories expended by various people all over the world and they discovered something remarkable - that the human body is very very good at keeping calories out as close to constant as possible. You can exercise but your body will find somewhere else to stop spending calories to keep you at a constant calories out rate. If you're going to the gym to lose weight and not for extra strength or to improve muscle tone, you've already lost.

Eating less (reducing calories in) is pretty much the only way. Go to the gym when you're getting close to your target weight and go to improve muscle tone and for extra strength or endurance.
