Right but see how the "getting back to God" shit might strike some as a bit weird?
Just to be that umpteenth user throwing in their two cents, it's possible Vic's been doing a little soul-searching and came to realize he hasn't been putting God first in his life for however long, and perhaps he views this as God taking his career away from him as punishment (I harken back to the story of Job in which God allowed Satan to plague Job with all sorts of inflictions to test his faith). I've seen something similar said by Don Bluth (and I wish I can find it, can't remember where I read it) in that he felt his films' success in the '80s was God blessing him, but then he felt those blessings being taken away within the following decade probably as a result of his puffed up pride, but it wasn't something he came to realize until years later when he thought back to it.
From what little Vic's said this past month, it sounds like he's trying to look for that silver lining and keeping his chin up. He may be viewing Nick's outstretched hand in his time of need as an extension of God's hand, and he's shown gratitude toward the support he's gotten. He doesn't appear to hold any malice toward anyone when any other person may be holding in a grudge over this, so that alone makes me believe he's been turning back to God as of late. Keeping a positive outlook I think will help soften whatever more blows will come to him even as everyone else loses their shit in this orgy of autism.
In fact I won't lie, this whole thing meant this scripture from the book of Matthew has been swirling around in my head, and it's possibly in Vic's head, too (King James Version, don't know which version Vic knows):
"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." - Matthew 5: 11-12
