This really is fascinating to me because Brianna is so obsessed with her social media presence, with being seen the victim AND the victor, that she -

1. won't verify anything that is sent to her if it paints her in any kind of flattering light
2. won't listen to anyone who tries to tell her something might be false
   
3. won't remove anything even if it was proven false (this tweet is still up as of this writing)

Brianna did nothing more than post a tweet. This whole incident took about 5 seconds out of her life, while the writing involved epic troll probably took much more time than that.

If you want a valid metaphor: weens wrote her a fake Nigerian 419 letter, Brianna posted it on twitter and weens cried out that they are still the masters of the ebbic trollin'. Brilliant.

a) most of the people who troll lolcows successfully and unsuccessfully
b) her entire career is based on the marketing of the product known as Brianna Wu, who is also self-described as the prominent figure in Feminism, Truth, and Vidya Games. Her job is to post hundreds of tweets every day and write missives on tumblr. It is incredibly difficult to market yourself to any company when you are proven repeatedly to be an unstable liar who will say anything ridiculous as long as it brings attention, even if it isn't real.

And I think they call up and yell "CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!"

It also damaged her credibility (something that she doesn't have much of at this point) and called into question the validity of the emails she had published. Since her life revolves around twitter and social media, this is actually a big deal, since it further exposes what a shady and untrustworthy person she is.

I don't think its any 'lol so epic troll', I just think it is simply another blunder in a list that stretches on and on at this point.

The point of academic writing is to "fend off critique from other academics"? Why do you think they would have critiques? Is it maybe because there's something to critique, and the "other academics" are the experts in that field who are precisely the people who should be giving you critiques?

This is why she dropped out of college to become an e-feminist. She doesn't have to think out her arguments, she can just say whatever she wants and if there's a flaw in her logic, then too bad, it's feminism so my arguments are sacred. It's like Anita Sarkeesian saying that weak female characters are "damsels in distress" and strong ones are "trying too hard", etc. It's a flow chart where there's no exit other than "totally sexist", and they don't understand that this makes their argument meaningless.
