Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Something tells me that between Smollett, Covington kids lawsuit, and Vic's lawsuit, this is going to be the year the hate mobs are defanged.
As much as I would love to see that happen, I don’t think it’s likely to go down like that. Hate mobs and public shaming are concepts that have been around since colonial times, and are not going away any time soon. Hell, with the advent of the internet, it’s gotten worse, since it gets spread a lot farther and lasts much longer than it did before now.

If this does anything to the beast that creates hate mobs, it’s likely to be the equivalent of giving it Valium. It’ll forcibly calm it down, but it’ll be back in full force sooner or later.

I'm glad this is being taken to court. Most of these people are just crybullies, plain and simple; they target others who they think can never retaliate in any significant measure. The only language they speak in is power, so they'll only listen when they know they're fucked.

Wring them out for all they're worth, Vic, because even if you prostrated and begged enough to come back instead of opting to sue, they would've never treated you with the same level of respect that you had before all of this.

As german I wouldn't thought one VA would be the reason for weebgate.
I haven't seen any dubs in my language since 2008.
Subs for life.
Our golden time with dubs was in the 90s early 2000s.

even tho I am no German it's nice to see another guy that spend a lot of time on RTL2. Good old days. ?

There was this guy in the chat of Rekeita's stream saying he's reporting on it and stands with Vic, I have no idea to the quality of his content but he's got 500k subs so it might be good.
Tbh DBZ/S commentary channels are pretty low effort stuff that attracts autism like a magnet. They even have their own version of Sonic re-colors/OC. EXAMPLE:
I will give credit, some of these do look good, I just find OCs very autistic.

The autism, it fucking burns!

Once Vic’s situation is done with, I think both this thread and the #s involved (except KickVic and VicKicksBack) will be used more for the general culture wars stuff involving anime.

As far as the future is concerned, I feel like the evidence would have to be airtight, or I'd have to see it happen for myself. I just can't believe anything these people say. They've already lied and tried falsifying evidence, so what's stopping them from doing it again?
Not to mention how the SocJus types tend to hoax things so often to get victim points.

Tortious interference with business prospects
I especially like how Nick specifically said that multiple times when explaining it to that Shane "I wrote some contracts" guy, and all Shane seemed to hear was "tortious interference with an existing contract". I'm not sure if Shane just completely missed the fact that those are two entirely different causes of action, or whether he thought "tortious interference with an existing contract" was the only kind of tortious interference in Texas and thought that Nick was flat-out trying to make stuff up that isn't real. It's peak Dunning-Kruger either way.

He was too busy reading shit being fed to him by his dick riders in his discord. To the point he tuned out completely to what Nick said to explain shit to him.

To be honest after about 30 minutes it was obvious he was a useless crank and should've been cut off straight away.

That wasn't really even him getting distracted... he was just ignoring Nick to be deliberately rude, and it was blatantly obvious. He'd already decided that what Nick was saying was wrong, so he made a point of staring at his Discord and commenting how the people who were feeding him info in there were doing a round of fist bumps over their epic win. (...he certainly wasn't talking about the YouTube livestream chat when he said that the people in chat were on his side...)

Basically Shane: "Oh you were talking? Sorry I wasn't listening, everything you were saying is wrong anyway LOL. Okay now let me, the idiot who never studied law much less passed a bar exam, tell you, the lawyer, how the law works in Texas."

The best thing that it might do, well actually likely will do, is assign a cost to the hate mobs. And more importantly assign a cost to unfounded defamatory journalism that has been given a free pass for too long. By assigning a cost, it makes corporations much more cautious. And much more aware of what their employees are doing and saying.

Perhaps shades of Kraut and Tea? “Internet lawyers please respond!”

Agreed on the crankery. Shane is an idiot, yet there is a point where you risk becoming one yourself by continuing to argue with people like that.

Axanar just made their Vic video

See this! This is exactly what I was talking about. If you aren’t directly involved in a matter, Don’t Fucking Get Involved! The Axanar clowns had no reason to engage. No possible company benefit to doing so. There is no possible outcome where putting this shit out there or getting involved in the Vic mess in any way benefits them. And huge downsides as they are THE direct competitor of a business owned by Vic. A lot of people gave this nutbag a lot of money to make Axanar. What he is doing here is not displaying good stewardship of that trust.

Just shooting the shit, but I checked Hetalia out of random and guess who's one of the scriptwriters?

Think Jamie's a yaoi fangirl herself like many of the Vic detractors? She has the condescending attitude of a fujoshi.

Also the franchise that had convicted pedophile Scott Freeman as one of the main characters(who voiced Issei in Highschool DxD until season 2. And guess who voices Issei's Number 1 girl,Rias?)

What I imagine happening soon (to clarify my previous comment) is that the hate mobs are still going to come out, but nobody of any importance is going to pay much attention, since more and more people are going to act cautiously around this sort of shit. That goes for all your Smolletts, your Covington kids, and shit that gets national news (i.e. Kavanaugh), and more localized shitstorms like this one here. Companies will be playing it a bit safer and smarter before they go firing random people because the Twitter hate mob called them a Nazi rapist pedophile or whatever and credible media outlets like Vox and Buzzfeed confirmed it. Why? Because the Twitter hate mobs won't be worth listening to, since they're a bunch of anonymous assholes, and neither will the """""journalists""""" because they too are essentially anonymous assholes working for publications which are far lower than tabloids in credibility.

The good part is that watching this change happen, watching the hate mobs and SJW crybullies and all these assholes lose even a little bit of their hard fought power, is going to be fucking hilarious. We already have that one brilliant legal scholar from earlier, but I'd love to see what happens at some anime cons in the coming few months.

Makes you wanna think why he didn't join the KickVic side? Do you think Vic was gonna pull a lawsuit as huge as this long before everyone started to backstab him in game of thrones? Steve may be exceptional but even he doesn't wanna poke the bee's knees or the hive of hornets. Cause people bite back! It's like "Do you want your fanbase to hate you if you fight on the kick vic side or stand with vickies?" We may never know in this timeline.

Steve and Vic are supposedly close friends, but both Steve and his wife Mary Elizabeth McGlynn have retweeted #KickVic stuff and we have all seen how Vic's other "friends" have responded to this mess,so...

Nick clearly believes in the old Guard adage "You can kill it with sufficient regimental fire support". May the heavy guns strike true.
