Merkel got degrees and was in academia, you say? Did she do anything noteworthy other than being there while female? Or did she jump straight into politics and stay there? (Spoiler: Yes, she jumped right into politics. The Berlin Wall fell and she got in on the ground floor of the East German political scene and stayed there.)

Regarding the JustSomeAntifas bit...Wow. I always knew that politically, abortion was about dispensing with "undesirables" and using women's health as an excuse (they always get so enraged when you ask clinics to measure up to minimum standards of health and safety for the women, I wonder why that is), but I didn't fully realize the goal was to go back to Iron Age, pre-Christian pagan bullshit where children could be disposed of if their parents rejected them.

Why does this "progress" so often mean a return to the bad old days when poverty and crushing debt were the rule and not the exception, women and children didn't enjoy full rights compared to men (or men in dresses), and a handful of greedy despots controlled everything "for the good of the lesser people" and their whims overruled observable reality as far as you were concerned?

While it's nice that Merkel has been a scientist, science does not translate into politics, especially international politics. Maybe climate and ecological politics but at the end of the day, those are minor issues in comparison to say, running a country.
But guess what field does translate well into politics? Business.

Well that and law but no one likes a lawyer by default.

The thing I don't get is that so far I have already been told that Trump is a LITERAL RAPIST, a pedophile and openly lusts after his own daughter. Is there absolutely any reason I should pay any attention at all to this latest allegation? It just seems so minor; not worth mentioning at all, really. I mean, it'd be enough to bring down an ordinary politician, but I suspect any answer I'd get would have to tacitly include, "but this one really happened; that other stuff is just bullshit we say."

So Cohen--A man who is going to jail for lying to Congress might I add--was grilled over and over and over again by Mueller's Special Counsel, eventually charged with all sorts of (non-Russia-related) crimes, and at no point during any of that did Mueller ever dig into this "legitimate, physical evidence" of Trump doing illegal shit. Since he's able to provide this to Congress, the "evidence" must not be connected to any active investigation, meaning that Mueller and his Special Counsel ignored every single detail of that story that could provide legitimate, impeachable evidence so that Cohen could provide this story to a Committee with no prosecutorial power.

... People actually believe this shit?
