Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Have any of the NY-based anime voice actors spoken up about this? Considering that I haven’t seen any of them in this thread yet, they probably know to keep their mouths shut.
As far as I'm aware they've been smart enough to keep off the defendant list. I'm more surprised at the LA scene staying quiet

Have any non-Texas VAs spoken up about this? It seems to be fairly localized to Rial / Marchi and their hangers on.
Only DC Douglas but it’s expected since he believes in anything that is in the name of Social Justice. But he isn’t that deep into it as he just is virtue signaling and sperging against people who disagree with him.

I love that

MarzGurl: "My work here is done"

Everyone: "You haven't done anything, in fact you completely fucked up #kickvics image after starting the fucking hashtag yourself!"

MarzGurl: "I have weeb stuff to sell, bye!"

One of the most problematic forms of media and entertainment since video games.
While animu is problematic in Current Year America for conservative or "woke" reasons -- or because some think it's all tentacles or lolicon -- in Japan it can be seen as 'toons children or otaku watch. (Manga is mainstream there -- I heard it's 40% of book sales.)

Anime Matsuri happens to be in my part of town and I know that apparently people hate that particular convention because apparently the guy who organizes it has been accused of sexually harrassing teenage girls.

I don't know how true that is considering the fact I've only seen rumors about it on Facebook and Twitter. I think the guy's wife said something on Twitter about the girls who accused him keep going to dinner events with him. ?

Also I wonder if some are going to be stupid enough to start fights with those who choose to support Vic at that con. It's a few months away but we'll see.

Nope, no lawyers on their side so far. I hear some of them have said that they think Sony is going to pay for their legal fees, but I'm also hearing they've gone completely silent. The biggest evidence for lawyers would be them going completely dead silent.

Since MarzGurl is still, as of today, faking evidence against Vic on twitter, I'm guessing only the Funi employees got the memo to STFU and prepare their anuses.

Somebody from Japan Called, it sounded like

the Rough translation is " We tiled of youl shit! youl People alleady lost us much money with ghostbustels, we dont cale about this shit, get back to wolk"

Came any Lawyer out of the woodwork in defense for #kickvic?

The Anaxar guy (Alec Peters) has a J.D., and was a lawyer at one point.

But there's a whole bunch of drama about him and Vic regarding Star Trek fan films. Peters doesn't like Vic, and Peters (but not Vic) got his ass sued by CBS and Paramount (settled OOC).

I think the only actual honest to God active lawyer to weigh-in publicly is Nick. Leonard French doesn't usually get involved until docs are filed. I expect he'd be doing a show once that happens.

Because I have only seen self proclaimed legal experts on their side.

I highly doubt any practicing lawyers would want their name associated with this autistic crusade, and certainly wouldn't want to impugn their reputation by sperging out on twitter over a case they don't have all the facts on involving like three companies and a slew of like twenty people. Most at the very least would wait for Vic to file his complaint first.

....Has Amanda Winn Lee always been this pants-on-head retarded? I remember her as the original English voice for Rei Ayanami, and know that she provided voice work for John Flynt's wildly successful AAA title Revolution 60. She just threw herself into the fire on this one.

Late on the scene, only came across this because I watched Nick R rape that poor soy, guzzling cuck in one of his videos.

This will come across as incel talk but it has to be said - has there ever been a hobby made better by letting women in.

Shane and Mark Waid prove otherwise. Idiots are idiots no matter what gender they are, it's just the context that changes.

Good point. Killstream is a currently ongoing drama that comes to mind. This weeb wars thing is so much interesting to follow though. Hope this lawsuit would move quicker than Maddox's.

Translation: Now I'm gonna get back to my life, crowdfunding veterinary visits, laying awake till 3AM hoping to find a lawyer that accepts payment in YuGiOh cards, checking Twitter on my phone every 3 minutes.

Jokes on her. The only Lawyer that accepts YuGiOh cards as currency is likely Nick. (Although if you could trade then up for some 40k shit first you’ll get a better rate of return.)

Whenever I see comments like that, I kind of want to see a horror film shot and edited like a slasher film, but instead of a killer it's a man in a MAGA hat kissing people on both cheeks and doing other innocuous things.

Opens with some poor, homeless black man standing in an alleyway with a sign, cue the pangs of dangerous piano music as a pickup truck slowly moves into view, the man's red hat comes into view. "Get it." he says and the black man, terrified, complies.

Cue the Strings from Psycho's shower scene as he is taken to a barber, fitted for a suit, and becomes a car salesman for the MAGA-hat dude who owns a place as he sells a car to a happy, smiling family. Maga hat dude watches on and drinks coffee slowly, never taking his eyes off of the dude on the lot.

Monia Rial has been radio silent now since Feb 22nd, while Jaime Machi continues to try and hock her scam perfectly legit gofundme to donate to the completely unknown and slightly off looking SCESA minus whatever gofundme's take is.

Oh, and the biggest donor to this thing so far? Jamie Machi at $350. :story:

Shane did say he did wrong things in the past... and he does run 4 conventions....

You can donate directly to the website, why even bother making a GFM unless....?

Wait, is that even allowed? Nick has said repeatedly on stream that he cannot donate to the GoFundMe for Vic, because as he is the organizer of the campaign, GoFundMe would consider that fraud.

I'll admit, however, that I skimmed the GoFundMe rules/terms of service and didn't see anything explicitly mentioning that you can't donate to your own campaign.

Yeah, I can't find anything specific either that says donating to your own GFM is a fraudulent. I'm sure there's some other convoluted reasoning why Rackets won't reach into his own pocket. Or it's hidden hilariously deep down into the ToS.
