It's especially funny because Japan is completely wise to this shit.

Where the fuck do you think Shimoneta came from?

I dunno if Shimoneta is a response to the SJWs, but I know that Japan perceives outside interference on how they do things as "cultral imperialism" and "racism," and aren't afraid to fight back.

A prime example of their ability to do this is whaling. Japanese engage in commercial whaling. The world reees. Japan lols and keeps doing it. Because whale meat is yummy, they've been doing it for centuries, and fuck you.

Japanese have a long history of whaling. Some towns can show their whaling history for hundreds of years. This history plays an important role to answer the question why the Japanese have kept hunting whales in recent years. Attempts to stop the nation's whaling are perceived as a threat to Japanese culture because eating whale meat is an aspect of Japanese tradition. "No one has the right to criticize the food culture of another people," said Matayuki Komatsu of Japan's Fisheries Agency.

Proponents of Japanese whaling (including the government of Japan) often argue that it is a cultural practice which foreigners should not oppose on the basis of cultural differences. Joji Morishita of Japanese Fisheries Agency in 2001 noted that the Japanese public also feels that anti-whaling groups are covertly racist. With Norway and Iceland hunting whales on a commercial basis, according to Morishita, "Singling out [Japan's] whaling is cultural imperialism – some people would say it's racism. Norway and Iceland are also whalers, but the criticism of Japan is stronger."

Danger hairs are so pissed off over this, they've used physical violence to try to stop the Japanese. Ever watch Whale Wars? It hasn't worked.

Why would they give a fuck about what some danger hair in the US thinks about a cartoon?

Simple. Word of rumors allow these folks to begin running their mouth without control. And look how much they keep talking. Speaking of angry of getting caught. Take a wild guess where that statement can be applied AS WELL.

Agree. I've seen this thrown around and nobody still seems to have named any of these cons. Shane did say that Vic "got thrown out of cons from 2014-2016, but people have short term memories so no one remembers now". Too lazy to dig for that info though. Seems impossible that not a single one remembers.

Pretty sure Shimoneta was in response to a conservative government and not necessarily SJWs. SJWs don't mind sexiness if it's IRL - I mean, recent gay prides show that much - and fat people get to be a part of it, they just hate the concept that people can't compete against perfection which is why they tear down those blessed with good looks and those that work hard to look good. They'll say it's some institution or some other nonsense, but when you're convincing people to actively seek to be ugly to spite this "institution" it's not very different from conservatives covering up. However, in the case of conservatives it's largely for the benefit of society - as misguided as it is - and possibly to hide their own demons too. SJWs do it because they're lazy spiteful pricks that can't handle someone being better than them be it through natural talent or hard work.

I mean, Osaka University has a Gender Studies Professor that's currently in a tiff with the JSDF using Strike Witches for recruitment purposes. Only saving grace is JSDF telling them to fuck off, but I expect that from a military.

Japan’s armed forces have been harried over a recent Strike Witches recruitment ad, with the usual low-T losers taking umbrage at a Hikari Karibuchi and Yoshika Miyafuji panchira shot featuring so prominently – going so far as to denounce it as “sexual harassment”.

The Japanese Self-Defense Force’s collaboration with Strike Witches may have become the latest victim of the current “Me Too” moral panic, as a recruitment ad from late 2018 featuring Strike Witches characters was condemned for its use of panchira. A close examination of the poster reveals that Yoshika Miyafuji and Hikari Karibuchi‘s not-pantsu are visible.

While the image seems to have escaped criticism when it was first released – perhaps because a military recruitment poster would be amongst the last things the Twitter soy brigade would be interested in – eventually they cottoned on, calling it “sexual harassment” and denouncing the “insanity” of a government organisation using popular characters in its marketing.

Kazue Muta, a “gender studies” professor at Osaka university who has previously claimed that the prince from Snow White was a sex offender, complains that its “sexualisation” of young girls could lead to it being interpreted as child pornography overseas, and that they be should concentrating on filling their ranks with strong and empowered women instead.

The JSDF is having none of it, saying they are appealing to the younger generation through an award winning example of a modern medium, and that the clothing pictured is not pantsu so there is no issue.
With all that in mind and on topic with the people involved in this thread, I'm still laughing my ass off at Marchi's and Rial's notion that Panty & Stocking was progressive, feminist piece when in all reality it was just the end result of Imaishi and crew getting drunk off their collective asses while watching way too much Drawn Together/South Park/Adult Swim and just wanted an excuse to make all the sex and poop jokes they could think of

If you're looking into any deeper socio-political meaning in a show like that, there really is no saving you

Wasn't the whole thing one gigantic troll? I seem to remember hearing before the big reveal that they were announcing a big budget magical girl anime from "that guy who animated Evangellion and Gurren Lagen". Everyone got super hype and then it was revealed to be an American animation style slap humor romp that they had thrown together after a weekend bender.

It was still good though.

At this point, I'm just glad that Gainax decided to not make a second season of P&S as much as people wanted one. The dub really is fantastic, but Marchi wouldn't have hesitated for a second to insert a line as Panty about toxic masculinity while her parts writhe about in Brief's pockets as Garterbelt molests him on-screen.

This is a livejournal blogpost about Vic holding a panel where he tries to address the rumors in 2010. They apparently started out of 4chan and cosfu (and by the looks of things, live journal)

By this time last year GameFAQs was talking about how tumblr shippers pretty much hated his guts.

Yeah that sounds real.

What I think is most telling about about Marchi and Rial is how they've connected with Panty and Stocking so swimmingly (to the benefit of the dub) even though by all rights, the two characters would be incredibly reprehensible people by most normal people. Seeing as Marchi and Rial are also incredibly reprehensible people, all this shit now makes even more sense

I'd be down with Season 2, just as long as they either keep it away from any dubbing companies or at least keep it far the fuck away from anyone at all in Funi with the likes of Rial, Marchi and Sabat in particular. I can very much go without my Vietnamese puppet shows getting filled to the fucking brim with muh drumph gamergate patriarchy shit, thanks

They actually said the same exact thing about Kill la Kill. It's feminist because... zmog, the main protagonists are females! I mean, I guess that's better than bitching about all the fanservice, but it's also a huge stretch. They basically have no choice but to stretch, or forgo watching anime altogether. I think the writers just wanted to make a bitshit insane show rather than a political point. Trigger = Gainax 2.0.

Is that one not full of fanservice and barely covered schoolgirl boobies as well as purple glow obscured dongs?

To be fair, in the places I've worked the Guest Services people were vitally important in handling information and complaints and were also responsible for other roles such as Lost Children and had roving members of staff to handle anything else that appeared.

Here's the problem though. Where are most Cons held? Hotels and Convention Centres. What do these places have?

Guest Services Teams like I described above.
Try telling it to these so-called HR people companies like RT hire. Because it's obvious they don't know.

That or they just want an excuse to equate being slutty with girl power except it's not being slutty if you're kicking ass in skimpy outfits you sexist pig.

You do realize the Slutwalk is considered feminist right?
