So is it just Funimation people being absolute idiots? I know Roosterteeth fired him too and are a part of the suit, but all I’ve seen out of them was the initial statement that he was being let go, and even that was straight to the point with no bias or anything. Are they being smart and not talking either?

Only most of their employees have remained silent about it because A) They most likely were instructed not to comment on it as this isn't the first time RT has been having controversy around them, and B) Discussing it further would create problems for the company. However, Miles Luna, Shannon Mccormick, and Jen Brown have failed to keep their mouths shut, making them complicit. Those three could be let go, and they would be off the frying pan. But it leaves the lawsuit in place since they are important to most of their shows.

But Nick did a great job covering why those three might have fucked up and dragged RT on this mess.

It just doesn't stop does it. This is amazing.

Give it up Sammy, you have a better chance with talking to an actual brick wall at this point

Roosterteeth WAS in the clear, but some guys have been retweeting #kickvic and saying Vic was guilty which put them right into potential lawsuit camp. I need to look up their names again, Rackets did a stream on the tweets

My guess is that they in this kind of a situation right now...

Jesus Christ this is embarrassing. But since all those really exceptional individuals havent stoped tweeting about it - we can assume that they still havent consulted a lawyer. Because every lawyer that passes his exams would tell them to go radio silent on the matter.

Its like getting pulled over by the cops. Just dont say anything to them besides your identification. Thats your safest bet from a legal standpoint. Its the same with twitter. Everything they put out can and will be used against them. But it seems that they are not grasping how serious the situation is. Playing it off as a joke. What the hell is this? Delusion? Wishful thinking? The effects of the social echo-chamber? I really have problems to understand their actions. The fundraiser for Vic raised a few thousand dollar in a couple of hours. At that point there is no excuse for not reaching out for legal advise.

Is there any news from Funimation? I would guess being a corporation would at least make it more likely that they would get a hold on a lawyer. But in that case - they would propably tell their retarded minions to shut up. And since that didnt happen...

I am not familiar with the legal practise in the good old US of A. How much of it is public? How much exposure can I look forward to? Because I really enjoy this trainwreck so far. Its sad enough to not see their reactions if the documents are delivered to them. The shock and realisation on their faces when the utter:

'I've been found out.'"

Court proceedings themselves are usually public (not in all cases; juvenile court is a closed hearing and the last time I went to one, I was pretty much sworn, under penalty of law, to not discuss the proceedings or who was involved). Discovery is also public. So we will know what Vic's lawyers when they know it and it goes on legal record, and we will know exactly what they are looking at and what for when they file for it.

It's amazing, their own opposition is practically begging them to shut up and talk to lawyers and they just plug their ears
Well duh. It isn’t fun to wait for the eventual lawsuit. It’s nice to effectively be guaranteed an eventual smack of justice to the face of these smug cunts, but they’re not even putting up a challenge or doing something otherwise interesting, they’re just screeching. They’re doing nothing valuable. They’re doing nothing interesting. There’s no fight in them, only bitching. The lawyers Vic hired won’t even have to try hard to prove something or find evidence, these idiots continue to just flail angrily and provide all the material needed.

“Never interfere with your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
This isn’t an enemy. This is the equivalent of what Wii U was in the console war.

@nlanpro said most of it. To add on in more specificity, Miles had a few tweets speaking about this in fairly vague terms, but may have done enough to drag Rooster Teeth into the lawsuit in the below tweet.

Talking about a firing decision when you have influence on it is never a good idea. He's at least being catty about it, but there's enough tweets with enough substance to make it feasible for him and Rooster Teeth to get pulled in.

What I find the most ridiculous is that they don't realize that it could come up in discovery that Vic is a child molester, makes Dahmer and the Manson family look like amateurs, and was the mastermind behind 9/11 and it won't matter. The folks on the hook for defamation, interference, and etc will still be liable for those things.

If that happens, that'll be justice too. Also if it turned out to be true it wouldn't be defamation any more. So everyone better be telling the truth.

I think it's important to establish where their mindset comes from, and correspondingly, why they're insisting on doing this shit even now. Consider this a lesson from a veteran of the Autism wars.

Their treatment of people who simply disagree with them tells you everything you need to know: they do not feel any disagreement with their position is legitimate, and that anyone who dares criticize them is doing so from a willful position of ill intent. This comes from their ideological echo-chambering, and the mindset that comes with it that someone who believes in "the cause" is inherently a better person than someone who isn't, regardless of any other qualifications.

That, in turn, exposes the arrogant core of this: that their entire proclamation in "believing victims" is a sham. They care nothing about victims unless those victims give them what they want. You need look no further than the alleged victims who told them to fuck off to get a grasp of that. They claim to be speaking up for Vic's victims (note, however, that no one gave them permission to do so), but the truth is that they want power. No apology, correction, or act of contrition will ever be enough to satisfy them, because they want their target - Vic in this case - destroyed.

When called out on this shit, they pull the same song-and-dance we've seen done by a thousand lolcows before them: dropping any pretense of dignity and lying, threatening, claiming victimhood, strawmanning as hard as they possibly can, and grouping all criticism in with the worst. When they fabricate evidence, as they are wont to do, they lambast anyone who dares question that evidence, and when the evidence is inevitably proven false, they treat it like roadkill and pretend it never happened.

As far as they're concerned, those pesky things like the American legal system, facts, and simple human decency are just obstacles between them and that goal, and they have the surety of fanatics that they're morally right in doing this. They fucking do this with the full consent of their conscience. Every single one of them is an Autism-driven despot of Ryulong-esque proportions, and none of them can be trusted with even the faintest scrap of anything resembling power.

And that's why it's so fucking satisfying to see these assholes twist in the wind. Let them fucking burn.

Fair enough, personal defamation would be off the table though I seem to recall some wiseguy saying "In Texas, not even the truth is a defense". I believe that would still leave tortious interference (via proof of conspiracy) as an option. Depending on how Vic does business, again hinted by Nick, and dealt with contracts through an LLC or something similar I imagine his legal team would find a way to separate Vic's private actions after hours from his business.

US Law specifically prohibits in most instances so called "secret trials". This being a tradition going all the way back to the founding where there was genuine concern that justice done in secret would not be justice. The constitution specifically requires that Trial by Jury of Peers be an option for any defendant. This is all covered by the 6th Amendment

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

The key word there though is "criminal". This is not a criminal prosecution, but a civil dispute. Civil Court is an entirely different beast to Criminal Court. The goal is not neccessarily to obtain the truth and administer justice so much as it is to facilitate an equitable resolution to the conflict that gave rise to the lawsuit in the first place. Sometimes this means someone who done wrong getting hammered hard, and other times it means a back room deal hidden behind the seal of silence.

In general, a civil trial will always be public with some exceptions. As we see in the Damore v. Google lawsuit, Google was able to convince the judge to seal the records to prevent anything from getting out. The official line being that conducting the trial in public would prejudice the possibility of a resolution. Actual line though is Google didn't want embarassing shit leaked out and had enough clout to make sure the lawsuit got put into secret court outside prying eyes. I don't see this happening here though. The default is everything is public, and Funimation almost certainly does not have the clout to convince the courts to keep things secret. More importantly, the central issue that gives rise to the claims is the ruination of Vic's reputation with the public. The trial HAS to be public for that reputation to be vindicated.

So its ALL going to come out if those goes foreword. Funimation and Roosterteeth have to be shitting bricks.

What others have said plus Monica Rial works at both companies too, so i would want discovery to see if she had a hand in getting him dumped at RT. I've heard that Rial was on the 'investigation' team too, but that might be the internet mixing her up with the fat Ineedanew-hart woman.

RT was doing so well and seems like it quickly tard wrangled most of the idiots, how funimation has been unable to get their employees to shut up is something to behold.

Funi might be planning on just dumping these idiots and are wary that if they tried to wrangle these truly remarkable people either publically or in private, they'd end up being grilled for 'siding with VIc'. I could also see the accusers claiming, in fury, that Vic after all did manage to get Funi on his side with his massive clout of an anime voice actor.

You know I wasn't exactly focusing on Funimation as a company because the VA's have been so bizarre, but this is a good point. Funimation has been around for over 20 years, how has no one at the top sent out a mass email saying "Shut the fuck up"? Gotta be tons of misplaced hubris or they have every intention to leave these idiots hanging to dry.

Either of those choices will be hilarious
