So, I'm actually looking through Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and it says that a Plaintiff may request service of process through the U.S. Marshal's office.

Given the fact that at least one of the idiots definitely faked a swatting, and the fact that Sean almost certainly did, I'm thinking it would be fucking hilarious if these people got their papers from armed law enforcement officers. Which would be perfectly legit.

A private process server seems soooo boring.

If things are going relatively collegially, you just request they waive service via letter to them or their counsel. If they do waive, they get a generous extension of time to reply.

I don't think this is going to be federal, though, as at least one defendant is likely to be in Texas as well as the plaintiff, which means there would not be complete diversity of citizenship, and the legal issues seem largely to be based in Texas state law.

But let's say you're right. Texas state courts have constables and whatnot. That wouldn't immediately shoot down my fantasy.

Hey he finished deleting whatever nefarious tweets he had and him getting repeatedly dunked on. Sure would be a shame if his convention connections he's so proud of caused him to get dragged into the lawsuit and those tweets got brought back up. Man I hope that stream was enough for Vic's lawyers to take a look at him. Probably isn't, but a guy can dream.

He meant his twitter, not the streams. YF was talking about it in one of his recent vids and had the page up. Not sure how you accidentally fuck up your twitter enough to temporarily nuke your tweets for while

What does he think the hook for jurisdiction is? Funimation is in Texas, Vic is in Texas, many of the most likely defendants are in Texas, and the causes of action that seem most obvious are in Texas law. Pleading a federal cause of action might suffice, but I'm not sure what that is offhand. Defamation is generally state law, as is breach of contract. For that matter, Texas state law seems to be more favorable to the plaintiff in this case than any other available law.

We'll see. Maybe Nick knows something I don't, and he probably does.

I thought Nick was talking about something separate, there - the alleged SWATings and the alleged bomb threat causing Homeland Security and the FBI to poke their noses in - so something which is a consequence of this bullshit but not directly related to the legal action by Vic.

Wikipedia says Los Angeles. He used to live in Houston. If no other defendant is in California, Nick's right that it probably ends up in the Eastern District unless Ty advises he file it in state court.

That's where I think the diversity may come in.

Was trying to find Jamie and Monica stuff, eventually I ran into the BBW community that happen to have the best links for footage of them. Once the lawsuit has been filed they will all go quiet if they've retained counsel and have the slightest idea what's good for them. I'm amazed that Funimation hasn't told them all to shut the fuck up already.
