This is about Vic but not about the current situation. This is a complaint that boggles my mind.

"I hate Vic voice acting because he uses the same voice every character"

So does 90% percent of anime dub voice actors. Like Sabat besides his Yamcha and Vegeta uses the same voice for Piccolo, All Might, Garterbelt, Sakaki, Jigen, and Zoro. Anime dub actors usually don't have the amount of range like American only voice actors like Billy West or Phil Lamarr. Well except Troy Baker but Troy Baker is GOD

It's not even really true, considering the three roles I know him for call for radically different voices (Edward Elric, Broly, Qrow Branwen). But yeah, so many dub VAs either sound like they're phoning it in or have one or two tricks. Try watching ANY moe show that has been dubbed, it's all the voices of middle aged women coming out of schoolgirls.

I've noticed that with Japanese VAs that even when they sound the same they tend to have different personalities to that voice still so the character feels different. I don't get that with any of the dubbers these days, unless they're like Newgrounds tier goofy spoofers. Then they can deliver different personality types and such. Kind of sad that mere aspiring hobbyists are better than so called "professionals".

Shit I'm still triggered by that lackluster dubbing of Zombieland Saga and the fucking anime held no real interest for me outside of a few catchy songs. Embarrassing.

After perusing the thread for a while, I'm glad weeb war happened. A lot of people got to see what a pure lolcow Jamie Marchi is even people that aren't even interested in anime. She should get a trophy for the most batshit crazy voice actress. Even Tara Strong wasn't this insane when similar shenanigan happened.

It's like Connor Kelley-Eiding (yes, she's related to Paul Eiding, the voice of Colonel Roy Campbell in Metal Gear) who voices a few characters in Fire Emblem, she voiced Felicia in Fates and Catria in the Gaiden remake, as well as Setsuna from fates. They're all drastically different but Catria is by far like so terrible that you can genuinely blame it on voice direction (the same can be said for Rena Strober, who voices Azura, and you look at how much hate she got for being "emotionless" in fates and compare that to how she's a lot better due to actual directing.) And even then, Vic is an outstanding voice actor, and the fact he's fluent in, iirc, French, Japanese, and Italian, it shows that he could go further than voice acting.

I'd like for you to watch Ecchi Anime dubs. They're so fucking bad and they don't even try. They straight up don't give a shit and even "subtly" make fun of the audience that watches the genre. Especially Maken Ki, where they literally amp up the sexual activity in dialogue by 11 for the reaason of "It's ecchi so it has to be this way."

Even if you don't have a stake in this sort of thing, it's been a hell of a ride to watch. And once we see the actual courts go, I have no doubt that we'll see more fun popping up.

Like, aside from 'I Want his Balls' Crazy Bitch Marchi, most of the players on the kickvic side have been quiet...

But who knows how long that'll last. Even if they do have attorneys telling them to shut up, it just wouldn't be in these people's natures.

Also, anyone know if more Anime Youtubers have spoken on this?

Mother's Basement and ProZD (and their girlfriends) have made strong anti-Vic statements. SuperEyepatchWolf has been silent but we can assume he's most likely anti-Vic because he's a huge lefty (just smart enough to not alienate his audience). Some gaming Youtubers have commented on it too, I know higher-ups in NormalBoots are openly anti-Vic.

Oh, I'm aware. They don't know that subtlety is a cornerstone of comedy. Then again, it's not like they put a-listers on translating teams or anything. They're kind of like games journalists in comparison to old school journalism, they failed at everything else and are stuck at this. They took creative writing classes hoping that they'd make it as a writer, but nah, stuck with this. They have no passion, just connections. It's kind of why I find it so horrifically sad looking at all the different font types and animations to the fonts from fansubbing and then look at the professional take being just regular text. Shit, interpreters make more money than localizers and are generally highly regarded, even teachers, but they're stuck localizing anime because they're worthless otherwise.

If you can't tell, I have a low opinion of people who don't respect others' works when bringing them to new regions... regardless of how silly that work is. Especially the shit tier memers at Nintendo Treehouse and people that think they're being cute.

That said... I'd like to see a comic of these people correcting "bigotry" in the translation of diplomats leading to catastrophe.

That doesn't surprise me considering how they treated JonTron who basically made those fucks what they are. Even when Jon just wanted to defuse it and get along with them again. The callous disregard thrown at him with a smiley face is almost how Ron Soy has been treating this entire farce. I forget his name, but he's not ProJared or The Completionist.

I remember that one, but I was thinking more of something he said earlier. He may have deleted it, but it was something like "I can't believe people are surprised or skeptical about the Mignogna situation. There's been rumors of this for years." Just empty bullshit to earn GoodBoyPoints.

Basically he asked a friend if he could dress up as him for Halloween some many years ago and I think the friend dressed up like him, the friend in question was black and I dunno if he put white-out on his face to be Nick, but I hope he did. That'd be hilarious, but maybe also poisonous...
