The more of Nick's streams I watch, the more convinced I am that these people are completely inept. To hear them tell it, Nick is a hack on the level of Landau who is going to embezzle the 100k while trying to defend Vic in a criminal case against top Sony lawyers who are going to use the mountains of evidence against Vic to get him.
Or with Monica Rial, either... as far as law is concerned. He doesn't get spousal privilege, because he isn't her spouse. He could be compelled to reveal everything he knows, even if it implicates her; if he refuses, he could be held in contempt of court. What's more, if the jury could infer that he's hiding evidence that probably would prove that Rial is guilty, they could use that against her. They're allowed to do that in a civil trial. He thinks that if anything gets filed Sony's lawyers will step in to save the day, even though he has no relationship with Funimation or Sony.
TUG was on it at least once when Rottman was DMCA'ing his channel. I like TUG, his videos are pretty chill besides the rare case where you work him up like the Rottman thing.TUG I believe has also been on a Nicky Rackets Stream and people seemed to like him. He is making videos a day pretty much on this, but as Nicky is covering everything in his epic rants it's hard not to cover stuff. His vids are like 10-14 minutes and covers stuff he finds the most amusing from what I've watched.
He's also made it very clear in several videos and tweets. Wouldn't think so according to all these internet lawyers. He literally can't do that because the beneficiary of the fund is the IOLTA account of the Beard firm.
Sony is stupid as hell and probably hasn't even noticed this shit.
That said, there's no reason to believe they'll step in to defend the fuckups and idiots who dragged them into this mess, as opposed to throwing them to the wolves, dissolving Funimation entirely, and replacing everyone with predictable drones instead of screeching rape monkeys.
ADV had one voice one of the NERV guys in Evangelion. Also there was one back in the old days who played a crewman who died in Nadia The Secret of Blue Water (ironic that Jean's actor is now the most successful of all of them)
Laura Bailey playing Nadine in Uncharted is a big problem. Cree Summer, Kimberly Brooks, Dawnn Lewis, Amanda Miller, etc are literally right there and they go with....her.
Idk if it's as bad as Monica Rial trying to defend her voicing Michiko in Michiko to Hatchin because "I'm half Latina". She threw a fit when people questioned that one.
Buying Funimation wasn't necessarily a mistake, as it's the big dog in anime distribution in the US, but it's not unheard of for a company to buy a competitor for the sake of killing it.
Like they say, truth is stranger than fiction. This is why TV dramas and crime shows are getting irrelevant, why pay to watch fake drama when real drama is available for free online 24/7.
Toei's always been shit when it comes to their property. Even outside of TFS, they've treated the Sailor Moon license like shit and depsite it being a Takara-produced thing, are holding that 1986 Transformers OVA hostage for reasons no one's sure of.Apparently according to either MasakoX or KaiserNeko, Toei ordered that the TFS crew who worked on that part of Kai were "grey-listed" by Funi as punishment. There's an ocean's worth of difference between how Funi treats the DBZA crew (super friendly barring outliers like Schemmel, to the point where Sabat and other Funi actors will do work for TFS) and Toei (who frequently try and get the channel shot down).
And with their r.etarded censorship practices, I full expect the Playstation branch to begin floundering with the rest of the company soon. But we'll see. I do wonder if Sony's already regretting their purchase of Funimation though.I'm not convinced Funimation WANTS Sony to notice this shit. Anybody associated with SPE is on thin ice as it is. SPE has lost money EVERY... FUCKING... QUARTER... for the past five or so years (at least). They lost 719 MILLLION dollars in FY 2016 alone.
Everything at Sony that doesn't have the word "Playstation" on it tends to perform like ass.

Not sure about TUG, but YF is very much into anime/manga and was covering videos on how Japan is eating Western comics lunch. I don't think they have any plans to actively boost ComicsGate(that's actually pretty smart and I didn't consider that), I think they saw a guy they liked in the industry getting railroaded by weird stories and jumped in to help him out. Fuck with the Dragon Ball franchise and nerds are gonna notice.Concerning why people like Clownfish TV, That Umbrella Guy, and Yellow Flash 2 are covering the #AnimeGate drama and the issue that goes alongside it, especially the latter two, I think a lot of it has to do with being #ComicsGate supporters. #ComicsGate is more niche than the ongoing #AnimeGate people are concerned about now seeing as the western comics industry is dying while Japanese media is on the rise again (at least from what I've heard). I'm not sure if either of the latter two are anime fans but I know Clownfish TV has been invited to cons before before Mike Toole falsely flagged him as a Nazi. I assume that they are hoping that with the increased visibility they've received that once #AnimeGate dies down that they can get people to support #ComicsGate. If that is the case, I hope that they are building their narrative for why #AnimeGate supporters should flock to #ComicsGate, especially since nothing says that you cannot make manga-style comics in America.
Well Rackets is making good money on those superchats, but from what he said before $700 on his patreon doesn't even cover the food bill, so he's not making that much money compared to his lawyer dutiesSo, my impression is that Rackets' is doing pretty good with these streams, but the individuals over at PULL seem to think that he's making out like a bandit over this, but I'm pretty sure that on a purely pragmatic level additional hours working as a lawyer out earns, 1:1, being a youtube commenter.

Initially one of the main accusations was Jessie Pridemore said Vic grabbed her hair and said crude jokes to her after she was raped by another VA at a convention. Todd made a post a few days later saying he met a girl at a con, they fooled around, but she wanted something more serious, and posted the text messages from back then and said Jessie was the girl, basically calling her out as a liar.
Admittedly, he said he hated Vic as well, and only outed her to save himself since he knew his ass was going to be next since people were hunting down who the VA who "raped" Jessie was, but this is basically the part in the anime where two enemies team up to take on a greater threat.
For fuck's sake, Marz started the shitstorm in the first place and definitely has been stirring the pot.So, my impression is that Rackets' is doing pretty good with these streams, but the individuals over at PULL seem to think that he's making out like a bandit over this, but I'm pretty sure that on a purely pragmatic level additional hours working as a lawyer out earns, 1:1, being a youtube commenter.

Then Kodansha just gave their US branch the rights for it in America. Some of that is Kodansha's fault. Or was. Their decision to work with Tokyopop wasn't very bright.

I had no idea, at least that's nice to hear about Yellow Flash being an anime/manga fan. I'll have to check his video out on sales data for manga and comics comparisons. Not sure about TUG, but YF is very much into anime/manga and was covering videos on how Japan is eating Western comics lunch. More than that yesterday. There was a guy named Justin Y. who donated at least $500 to Nick in the live stream, one for everyone $100 and that's in spite of Nick telling people not to put themselves in a financial burden to support him, only what they can afford. I appreciate Justin's generosity but I hope that he's being careful with his money.I mean, if we go by Nicky's own admission on how much he bills per hour... He's pulling in like $300 a night, or for getting drunk and laughing at exceptional individuals he makes another hour and ten minutes in cash.
