Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Ricco was one of the VAs I dug into since it seemed like the My Hero Academia VAs were the ones losing their shit and he also has a role in the woke trashfire that is Zombieland Saga.

Zombieland Saga looks cute.

I'm gonna watch it subbed though. I'm swearing off Funi dubs until this shitshow subsides. Maybe there will be some "personnel changes."

I posted this on DHI a while ago but haven't seen it here so joined to add it for the Amazons' to find.

In doing research on all this crap I went through the hell that is MarzGurl's old con videos to see if Vic was in any of them and found her meeting him in 2005 at the 3:10 mark. She posted it in 2006.

Vic's also in this 2004 Con video she also posted in 2006, but doesn't show her talking to him. She just zooms into his face from a distance at 4:10.

She seems to have video taped her con experiences pretty extensively but of course no video of Vic being "unpleasant" even once much less three times like she claims.

It's an interesting show. I watched it dubbed, and Ricco Fajardo did a really good job as a batshit insane manager. which is funny since I mostly knew him from playing manly-man roles like Daryun from Arslan and Ushio from Hinomaro Sumo. Probably one of his better performances.

Like you I'm kind of ehhhh about how a lot of Funi VAs conducted themselves over this whole thing, but I like their work, so I just tell myself "separate voice from their actor" and go to sleep at night with that.

It's really weird to see the MHA actors be this vocal. I guess they know themselves how fucking bad they are in their roles.
And are afraid how easily substituted they would be. Especially the guy voicing Bakugo is so one-note. His performance ruined the "big fight" in the third season for me.
Even more when I think about the awesome performance from Nobuhiko Okamoto. (For which he is probably going to win some Seiyuu Awards.)

Just some weeb rant I guess.

Basically my operative policy for most official shows has been that if it's not done by Sentai Filmworks or Viz, I'm not watching it dubbed.

Is Amanda Winn Lee the only one from the Persona camp chimping out? Considering the type of games Atlus puts out I doubt they give a single fuck about what a bunch of uptight entertainment industry liberals think.

I did some autistic research and literally none of the Persona voice actors bothered to get involved. The only ones outside of Winn Lee that did are Cassandra Morris (Morgana's VA who only just retweeted ANN's story about Vic and nothing else afterwards), and the other one is DC Douglas (who happens to voice a sexual predator in Persona 5). All the other Persona VAs are:

A. Just promoting the stuff they're in or just normal twitter shit

B. Politisperging

C. Not even using twitter

I'm not familiar with the internet lore on ZLS. I just know that:

  1. Some of the more "woke" VAs have been injecting SJW shit into the dubs they do.
  2. They're probably gonna get more brazen with it.
  3. I have no patience for that shit.

If I know a dub is free and clear of such shit, I could undoubtedly get behind the "art vs. artist" argument, but I don't have the patience to verify for everything I wanna watch. So subs are safer FTM.

As someone who watched the entire show, dubbed, I can verify that nothing stood out to me as woke pandering or whatever. One character, by their very nature, might give off those vibes, but that was exactly how it was in the original Japanese.

Honestly, except for maybe 4 shows in recent memory, there's little to no egregious political injection, even from Funimation.

I recently finished the sub. In spite of being an idol anime it's unironically good. It's funny and has an entire cast of likable and legendary characters. The only criticism I have is it does have some scenes where the CGI stands out a bit. Though the CGI is not nearly as offensive as it was in Baki or Vietnam flashback inducing as in Berserk.

I'm glad they kept it to a minimum in Baki, but I do feel it ruined some scenes completely and noticable clipping of the models made me sad.

inb4 "did not investigate"

That was 8 years ago.

It got dismissed, and then they forum-shopped at had it reinstated. It's my understanding it is still ongoing. If not, fine.

My underlying point is that he is an IP guy. Stone's area of expertise is far narrower than Beard.

This fucking loser lives in another dimension where he's a badass and totally winning all the internet and real life arguments about this. He actually somehow makes me slightly annoyed at how much of a soy drinking out of touch loser he is.

Nick should be thanking Soye Toye for ensuring that any complaints about him get sent straight to the circular file after seeing a flood of frivolous complaints submitted by Internet nobodies with no legitimate beef whatsoever.

The second biggest struggle I've had in this thread is trying to figure out who is displaying actual intellectual dishonesty, and who is just stupid. There's been more than a few people I could put in either camp.

The first is trying to figure out why Shane has a shoe on his cutting board.

Did they only start talking about this 25+ women legal team after the Amazons stream?
If so then it sounds like they don't actually have a 25+ woman legal team but they are just trying to outdo Vic and his number of female lawyers which I find so petty that it's pretty hilarious

Nobody has mentioned a 25 woman legal team. They're claiming 25 victims who they're gonna parade against Vic. I think Ron has actually knocked it up to 30.

I saw a lot of column A from Erika Harlacher (VA for Ann) since I follow her already, she comes across as a pretty genuinely nice person really into her job and weeb life. I was wondering why DC Douglas sounded familiar. I thought he did a pretty good job as Kamoshida.

Not a legal team but I think it was Monica that said she had 25-35 women ready to testify about how Vic was a homophobic rapey creep who is probably racist or a Nazi or something.

Good call on the subs, their VAs are trash in the dub. I think it was this thread I mentioned that the main zombie girl's VA has only one tone or emotion, just cranks the volume when they're supposed to sound upset. So regardless of politics it's just bad.
