Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

It's a slur used by idiots.

One of the most horrifying tweets I've read in this whole mess actually came from Geoff. He unironically argued that "innocent until proven guilty" is a principle only appreciated by the "right."

These people will be fucking terrifying if they ever assume governmental power, with access to armed force. Right now they're just annoying and fun to laugh at.

It's ironic those idiots say that while at the same breath think the fucking court works like Ace Attorney which is a series that is a satire of Japanese court and especially critiques the concept of "Guilty until proven innocent"

If you believe Phoenix Wright is like court (or Perry Mason for that matter), the way you solve a murder is you first immediately charge some guy who is obviously innocent but then all the evidence proves they're totally guilty until the real murderer comes into court and the good guy lawyer gets him to confess to the murder.

These idiots will probably only believe Vic is innocent if it turned out the one who did the groping (theoretically if Vic actually did something) was another voice actor who disguised themselves as Vic.

Oh so the 25 women they keep mentioning aren't even a legal team it's just all the twitter accusers, I was confused because they keep fucking mentioning these 25+ women as if they are somehow going to save them from court
I'm sorry but even if you got 50 women willing to testify in court, if they cannot provide evidence than it means nothing. They really think that this trial is like their twitter mobs where they will just go "where there's smoke there's fire" and imprison Vic

It's funny, because Ron and others think that when they get dragged into court; Vic has to prove himself to them while the opposite is the case, because Vic is the one taking legal action, they have to sit there and try to provide actual proof of their claims or admit they lied.

The Japanese justice system is actually pretty fucking scary. Most crimes are "solved" via confessions. They can hold you for practically forever without charges, and interrogations can last for days. The conviction rate is over 99%.

I don't think they're bright enough to comprehend what goes on in Japan, but I'm creeped out enough by how they want #metoo to work that I don't care where they're getting these ideas.

To Japan's credit, it's a society where you can leave your doors unlocked and little kids can walk a mile to school by themselves without any worry. I could see how a "guilty until proven innocent" mindset could work in a country where 9 times out of 10 people aren't going to be dicks and falsely accuse you. Not that there isn't false accusations, I'm sure, but it's a mindset that no doubt works better in Japan than it would in America.

Thankfully, #MeToo has had a lukewarm reception in Japan and most people aren't really interested in it. A few murmurings, but no real movement.

The other thing that people never mention, which also happens in Japan, is that a case usually doesn't end UNTIL someone is guilty, and the suspect who could very well be innocent, can stay in detention for the rest of their life. Even this is mentioned in one of the games.

I saw a lot of column A from Erika Harlacher (VA for Ann) since I follow her already, she comes across as a pretty genuinely nice person really into her job and weeb life. I was wondering why DC Douglas sounded familiar. I thought he did a pretty good job as Kamoshida.

Not a legal team but I think it was Monica that said she had 25-35 women ready to testify about how Vic was a homophobic rapey creep who is probably racist or a Nazi or something.

I expected Cassandra Lee Morris to just post "OK, this is happening" and leave it at that, sanity seems to be her strong suit.

As for DC Douglas as Kamoshida, given what is going on right now, the interlocking layers of irony could be thick enough to be used as chain mail.

Again, nobody has talked about a 25 woman legal team.

I apologize. I didn't elaborate on it enough.

And it's not even 25 victims that Monica and the others are talking about. It's 25+ "witnesses" who can attest to the time, place and dates of conventions and events. Not 25 people who are able to confirm that Monica and the other accusers were sexually assaulted.

The discovery on the 2018 and 2019 investigations can make or break this case. If nothing in the investigations showed that Vic was actually sexually assaulting people, and was only confirming dates and places, Funimation and the others could be in more of a world of shit than they already are, especially because they were stupid enough to imply a reason for his termination on their Twitter account.

If this is now (or going to be) a superthread for both Vic and Haberborn (under the Weebwars banner), Pridemore is hardly a bit player.

She is literally the primary (and possibly only) legal target from Haberkorn's PoV.

There's a reason why his GFM will only be 10K, and it ain't because he's rich. It's because there's gonna be less work involved with representing him.
Disagree. If this didn't have the Vic angle there wouldn't be that much attention to it. (Edit: I do understand your position though)
  • 'Decades' of rumors spread by full of shit funjoshis leading to 'binders' full of whamen who were sexually assaulted (read hugged or pecked on the cheek).
[*]This apparently happened in public at conventions, many of which have now dropped him, with one proclaiming bomb threats (FBI is now involved) and gulags for the wrong thinkers.
[*]Voice Actor 'friends' and relations that stabbed him in the back, continued to kick his corpse for more than a month and spitting on fans or anyone who asked for any evidence to back their claims. At the same time they have been ignoring / disparaging anybody telling them to shut up as potential legal action may be taken (including a real lawyer) and using the expertise of Wikipedia and twitter law instead.
[*]Funimation (who only suspended an actual paedo until he was guilty in a court of law) essentially gave a reason for the firing in an at will state and potentially confirmed 'harassment'. 'Investigation' employees faked a swatting and may have included one of his accusers on the panel. Due to the way many VA's perform multiple roles (like Sabat) they are potentially on the hook for more damages. Was just bought by the Japs for $143 million and will possibly be killed for bringing great shame.
[*]Rooster teeth doing well until their dumb non funimation related employees wade into the conversation and now may also be on the hook.
[*]Sony / Toei are probably fine due to corporate barriers, but may choose to end this and have the potential to kill funimation.
[*]ANN / Io9 shaping up to be a potential 'Hulk Hogan vs Gizmodo' round 2. Connected to Marzgurl.
[*]Marzgurl appears to be a Rat Queen that started all of this and has connections to many of the players. Likely covered up actual sexual assault/rape of minors for her old Buddy JewWario (everybody else knew just not me you guys). Has to e beg for oil changes.
[*]Begging eTHOT and 'professional cos-player' Jessie Pridemore who jumped on the movement and attempted to implicate Vic in sexual assault with her own story about 'rape'.

  • Begging eTHOT and 'professional cosplayer' Jessie Pridemore who jumped on the movement and attempted to implicate Vic in sexual assault with her own story about 'rape'. Todd finds out about this story, realises she's trying to metoo him and quickly posts receipts of Jessie thirsting for his cock after a consensual sexual encounter. Due to receipts she is likely to lose fast and hard.
I'll put it in weeb. Goku (Vic) is fighting the Ginyu force (VAs, etc) and they are desperatly hoping for Captain Ginyu (Funimation) to come and save them or at least put up a fight. Bulma (Pridemore) is getting blowback, flailing around and yelling at the wind and Krillen (Todd) is about to show up to take her dragon radar, dragonball and leave. Freiza (Sony) could show up at any minute and destroy their world.

Don't forget WatchMojo also has Todd in their employ. He still does videos for them.

Lmao DC is kinda annoying. I remember he showed up on CNN or MSNBC years ago telling about stuff.

There's a few VA's that I wonder if they are nice or assholes irl. Mainly Jennifer Hale, Lani Minella, Kari Wahlgren, Eric Vale, Yuri Lowenthal, Tara Platt, and Jessica Straus.

Now I'm just suddenly reminded of Danielle Judovits. Did she fall off the face of the earth.

Basically my operative policy for most official shows has been that if it's not done by Sentai Filmworks or Viz, I'm not watching it dubbed.
I've actually been watching some older dubs by Funi like Initial D, they're not half bad. I refuse to watch any recent dubs though with this latest stuff plus the tactic of inserting political beliefs into anime like with Dragon Maid and Prison School. If they're allowed to get away with it they'll just keep doing it, and I'm used to subs anyway. That's uh...that's all I wanted to input.

Though, do you think Shane cooks shoe leather and eats it?

Someone found that it's not only ITunes that removed Vic but also Google Play. But that one might not have been removed because they don't even have the Japanese VA for Broly in that small list.

Not sure if Eric Vale is an asshole, but the SJW brigade on Twitter were saying he is when this whole shitstorm started. They were angry at him because he said something unwoke about Autism.

As far as I'm aware they fixed the Prison School dub line about Gamer Gate.

I know Eric Vale seems to stay away from any sort of drama so he's probably a chill guy, and Yuri is weird. Yuri is not involved in the Vic issue but Yuri seems to like retweeting Chuck Wendig a lot.
