Just wanted to throw my two cents in -- you're absolutely right that the timing was no accident. That was CPS giving Michael kind of a last chance, "if you want them, act like it" moment. They knew when the time came he would choose his new family. I'm not necessarily faulting him there, but this is CPS making it clear that if he wants them on his side, he needs to get off his ass or get out of the way.
The kids are likely traumatized. Not because being held under CPS/medical supervision is terrible (it is, but the kids are used to medical supervision anyway and this is an improvement), but because Susan would have gone out of her way to ensure the separation was as traumatic as possible, so she could play the innocent mom-warrior fighting for her kids who were stolen by the old man in charge, see they're crying and calling for me, you don't understand them, they need their mother and Michael ISN'T HERE REEEEEEE etc. etc. Add to that the fact that antipsychotic withdrawal is hell and yeah, you've got a recipe for some stressed kids.
But for once, they're not stressed because they're being abused and manipulated. They're stressed because being cared for correctly is a foreign concept that Susan has done her best to make them terrified of. They're scared, but they're together, and under decent medical supervision for the first time ever. That's more than we dared to hope for even a week ago.
The real work starts now. Personally, I'm most interested to hear from
@ibewwife1990, and to find out whether criminal charges are being filed. There's a lot of difficult shit ahead, but for the first time maybe ever, there is a glimmer of hope for these two. Infinite thanks to our many leaks, especially
@JanusJupiter for keeping us posted throughout this utter madness.
