In the jurisdiction where I live, cases where children are permanently removed are published online in supreme court records. They are all "anonymized" by initials, but the biographical details are often enough to make a connection.
As far as checking for criminal charges, any google search will bring that up. You can check their local court house/jail websites to see if they have been arrested and if they have been, the court house will have a record of it where you can see the most basic of info for free. So keep an eye out for that over the next week or so. I feel if it's gonna happen it might take a little time.
