Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I've been really chomping at the bit about this case. I feel like I've been waiting to see these folks suffer the repercussions of their actions for years. The behavior exhibited by #kickvic has so exemplified social justice excess that it's cast the whole gang in new roles as sacrificial effigies, doomed to soak up a stash of schadenfreude we've all been working on for the better part of a decade.

I just want ANN burned to the ground out of this, or at least a few key members there shackled with legal fees. They're been trying to mess with anime for years. They tried to get Yaginuma blacklisted from the industry because of his spergy rants about Jews on Twitter he's been doing for years but nobody cared til ANN wrote a hit piece. Thankfully for him Japan doesn't care about Jews so he's still getting work, but ANN made enough of a stink for CrunchyRoll and the English side of some companies to put out a statement. Zac once mentioned he's had Japanese companies complain to him because of some of the more spergy/hardass ANN reviews that rant on social issues, but he brushed them off. I can totally believe the Anime Outsiders guy that nobody likes Zac.

This is all in line with the Saul Alinsky playbook, isn't it? Infiltrate some scene, seed it with ideologues, corrupt & destroy it, then repeat. There's a perceived ideological value in denying average folks their escapist entertainment.

I suppose there's no way to confirm that letters got delivered outside of the sudden radio silence on Twitter? At what point in this process going forward would public knowledge be available?

It ain't a hard sell.

High School DxD contains MANY scenes that a reasonable person would describe as soft-core porn. Including myself, as an anime fan. Its sale to minors probably should be regulated, if it's not already.
It depends on the retailer selling it, other anime and regular live-action R-rated films. Since the late 90ies everything R-RATED is supposed to require I.D. of some kind to prove the buyer is legal age. Whether the retailers actually check i.d. for adults and those close enough is usually a judgement call. Little kids without a parent or guardian present trying to buy a mature anime, manga, or game yeah that would be a bad call for the seller to make.

I''d go farther than that.

I've noticed it's actually really hard to get younger people to watch older anime. Even if it's really good stuff. It's old. And looks old.
Same attitude I've seen since the mid-90ies though the definition of 'older' ranged from decades to years then to now months to days for younger fans.

Exactly this. Take this with a grain of salt because I'm very foggy on all the details since this was back in 2015. But another example of Zac that I can remember involves him reviewing a certain anime, Saikano (She, The Ultimate Weapon) Even though it was pretty well know that he hated the show and even talked bad about it in podcasts and in the forums. After he got blasted for it on twitter and the comments that didn't get deleted in the forums Hope (Jacob) Chapman came to his defense and said they tried to pass it around and no one else wanted to review it.

A lot of this I can't find anymore and I could be remember a lot of it wrong but I do remember there being a stink about him reviewing it since he went into it a;ready hating it.

We know Nick has a line in with BHBH, at the very least they've been telling him basics such as "The papers are now served". Ty and the Amazons both stated fairly clearly in their respective streams that serving would be imminent and this was backed up by Nick at the convention.

All of a sudden, the loud screeching that's been coming non stop from the likes of Ron Toye etc has vanished. Now, either they're all recovering from their own con appearances over the weekend or somebody knocked on their door and physically handed them an envelope which has prompted them to finally find a lawyer who will have told them to shut the fuck up on any social media while he tries to sort of their stupid shit.

We all know which we'd like it to be. We'll also know if this carries on to say, Today (Tuesday 12th March) or on to Wednesday. They stay nearly completely fucking silent bar sending out their own con appearances, we'll know.

Then we get to watch as they all start trying to throw each other under the bus and it will be fucking glorious.

He should have read the porn version instead. lol

Has there ever been anything about why Zac hated Saikano (She, The Ultimate Weapon) beside him hating on it? Is there anything from that series that got him mad or did he want to hate it for him to hate on it? I think it's petty for a nearly 40-year-old man to bitch about some anime series.

Ron's birthday is 13 March so it's possible birthday stuff kept him off Twitter on the weekend.

Anyone think it kind of ironic this involves the people that voiced the english version of Shimoneta?

I honestly can't remember but just looking at the summary of the review from 2015 it's something about tragedy porn with a side serving of emotionally disgusting harem antics. I didn't listen to the podcasts where he dissed it but people in the comments from the reviews said the only positive thing he had to say about it was "Uggh"

It is, but they're not pulling this shit off.

Trying to get Japan to not be Japan is like trying to get Glasgow to not sell heroin to tourists or Russians to not sell weird drugs in the Metro.

Knowing how clueless and incompetent these assholes are, he's probably got Saikano confused with Saekano.

Guess he wasn't feeling it. He should watch gay porn instead.

Fuck you Twitter, when everyone reported Kathy Griffin for non-jokingly calling to dox children, you did fuck all.

So, don't know if this has been talked about... But here's a Hero Hei stream that happened last night.

Interestingly, he covers Mangakamen's video on the matter (the second one), and MK found out.

Fun little points - You got Hero's fans saying "Don’t waste your time with people that backpedal on their own statements by calling them a jokes after people see it for what it is."

YellowFlash saying that Manga would strike the stream (Really shows he's kinda talking out of his ass since Manga's first video in response to the Vic drama actually defended Yellow from Marzgurl trying to take down his vids, heck, even his second video alludes to that).

And Manga actually showing up.

... And the chat telling him to call his girlfriend back since she called him near the beginning of when he showed up.

I just kinda find it weird that you've got Yellow making that claim and saying "I don't know you man", but you assume the worst about a guy who's trying to be neutral?

Also, Hero claiming that Manga's a hypocrite for spending 10 minutes after saying people shouldn't use SJW and then insulting others... I dunno, I watched Manga's video, and Manga didn't really insult anyone in particular...

Thoughts?
