Steph's change of expression in the second panel is interesting.

The first expression is "nervous kid who doesn't know how to say what she wants without upsetting dad"

Whereas the new expression is "uh, excuse you, why do you even have that shit still there? You're so problematic."

Even the facial expression in the portrait in the first one is more relatable. Anyone, trans or not, can relate to "I'm not really comfortable with this picture but I'll do it cause it makes mom/dad/generic authority figure happy", the second one just looks bizarre (and isn't even nearly as recognizable as pre-transition Stephie)

I thought that was an edit at first, meat vehicle sounds like slang for a cock.
I know that "wow, I thought that was an edit" has been a joke around here for a 1000 pages or so, but I REALLY thought this "meat vehicle" one was an edit!

Art imitates parody at a certain point, I guess...

Erikur "arc": The "Europe" comment really sums up Labelle's laziness. We actually care more about her characters than she does! Does she even remember she made him Icelandic? Erikur's Icelandic identity was a complete throwaway. No depth, no development... what did we learn about Iceland or Icelandic culture from our knowing Erikur? Anything? Do we know how Icelanders view LGBT people as opposed to Quebecois? Do we know what sports they like to play or what music they listen to? How do they dress? Erikur could literally have been "Ahmet from Turkey" (with a little shading) or "Jorge from Chile" or "Dave from Australia" and nobody would have noticed a damn thing.

Plus it actually hints possible backstory elements. Something like Martin might have interest in wild west history, dressed his son to a same Halloween costume he wore as a kid or that the family took a trip to a country fair. It looks cute and something that you would want to have on your wall. The uncomfortable/unconvinced expression looks something a kid would do and something that a parent would love to hold on for future teen embarrassment. It makes sense that Martin wouldn’t want to put it away as it’s something meaningful for him. While he cares about his kid’s comfort, Steffie’s transitioning is hurting him, he lost his son and this picture is an important symbol of that. The new picture looks like generic filler that came with the frame.

Also the perspective on the frame is just wrong, you should be able to see that much of the bottom but artists choose go with that because it’s easy to draw same thickness to bottom and the side. Who cares that it doesn’t make sense. It’s similar to “box in perspective” that you see kids doodling on squared paper.

EDIT: Name fixed

Stephie's dad is called Martin. Frank is the boyfriend.

So this date Magnus and Sandrat went on involved Sandrat putting himself all over Magnus in uncomfortable/inappropriate positions for their age, general idle chat about scary strawman transphobes, and the Magnus just dropping the moving bomb on him? What a thrilling set up to tie in to the Ciel novel. I can tell a lot of thought, planning and emotional investment went into this arc.

Don’t do it, please. Most people allergic to cats are allergic to the proteins in cat saliva. All breeds of cats lick themselves constantly and such spread their saliva where ever they live. There are counter measures that can be taken but it’s lot of work. It will mean keeping up a strict cleaning routine, home set up that avoids dust collection (no knickknacks or stuff laying around, avoiding fuzzy rugs and carpets and so on), not letting the cat in the bedroom at all and regularly bathing your cat. Unfortunately many cats not only hate washing but suffer skin irritations if done too often. So, unless you’re very dedicated and have a good plan b, I don’t recommend taking your chances with the allergy, especially by adopting a kitten. If you take a kitten and then in few months turn out not be able to keep it, you have made it harder to find forever home for that cat. People are way more willing to open their home to a cute baby animal than older and bigger one. Plus all the stress that changing home will cause to the cat. So, yeah please don’t.

You've seen this fat, greasy dude's unwashed hair. He doesn't even bathe regularly himself.

I guess I have something to contribute. I'm mildly allergic to cats, meaning their dander and saliva, and it itches like hell when I'm scratched. The past few months have been gradually easier on me, and now I'm pretty much only having problems with the scratches. Exposure can help in some circumstances, but I wouldn't bet money on it. You either have to deal with it or not have pets.

Billy, don't have pets. You can barely take care of yourself, what makes you think you can take care of animals?
