Chris demoted a phase in Therapeutic Docket program

It will be interesting to see what happens to Chris when he inevitably fails this course. Will the court just shrug and send Chris on his way with a pat on the head, or will the court revert to a harsher punishment like stiff fines or jail time? Because there is no way Chris will successfully complete this program. The financial management obligation alone is going to fuck him over.

I can imagine some A-Log or ween encouraging Chris to fail this course and try to get him to jail.

Assuming Chris is unable to improve in whatever area he's fucking up in (crazy idea, I know), is he just gonna stay on this docket program forever? If he fucks up more than he is currently, does he go to jail?

Edit: I skimmed the .pdf, and it says it's for 6-12 months, but I don't think it says anything about what happens if a person stagnates at a phase. It also talks about the punishments a person can receive if they don't do what they're supposed to do, and basically he can either get community service, have to write an essay, get a little jail time, or just get kicked out of the program entirely.

I doubt they'd keep him on the docket forever. Worst-case scenario, they'll toss him in the clink for a bit if they decide it's not working, but I think it's more likely that they'll just terminate him from the program and warn him that next time he's going to jail. My guess is they'll probably use some of the lesser sanctions first, like essay-writing or community service, but one way or another I think he's going to wind up getting booted out. He's nine months into a program that's only supposed to last a year at most, and he's apparently failed to make any progress to the point where they've put him back on a stricter schedule.

I was also reading through it, and I noticed this tidbit:

"The Therapeutic Docket program values truth, honesty, trust, and fairness. Truthfulness comes first in the Therapeutic Docket. If you want to receive the best treatment possible, you must be truthful with the Therapeutic Docket Team and other participants. If you are not honest, you will find it hard to gain the trust and respect of others in the Therapeutic Docket. Truth and honesty will help you in your journey to health and recovery. In return for your truth and honesty, the Court and the Therapeutic Docket Team will treat you with fairness and respect. All of the sanctions and incentives in the Program are designed to assist you in your journey towards living a healthy, productive, stable, and law abiding life."

If that's the case, then this has been doomed from the start. Any chance Chris ever had at living such a life was gone many years ago. And, given his actions over the last few months, he's definitely not been receiving the best treatment possible. Is it because he's lying to his therapist, or because his brain is so broken outpatient therapy just isn't going to help? Taking all bets.

Holy shit, really? That's interesting (Honestly, one of the more interesting things to happen recently). I wonder what constitutes as "stability in housing" here. Are we referring to family related stuff? Living conditions? Either way, he probably had to have done one or more of these things incorrectly (shocking, I know) to get demoted.
"Stability in housing" typically means you're not moving frequently, aren't homeless and aren't at immediate risk of becoming homeless.

Chris is probably not going to receive any serious punishment. There's no time limit on the docket, and all stated goals of the docket come with direct support for the participants. It's going to be pretty hard for him to get removed from the docket completely. There are also other alternatives to incarceration, especially for low level offenders. I can't imagine him going to prison for any length of time, no matter how much I think it would help him.

All they're actually seeking is some higher-than-present level of stability. That's in the form of reduced risk of future criminal violations, continued treatment of mental illness and stable financial situation. As optimistic as it sounds, Chris should be able to meet those goals, with support, after Barb is dead.

Where do you see that support coming from? Not trying to be a dick, just curious.

It's not Chris's fault. This shitty program wasn't going to teach anyone good behavior anyway. It's probably just made up to funnel business to shrinks.

Someone has to watch Chris pee into a cup and take its temperature. :cryblood:
