I know nothing of law, so why is this happening so slowly? Why isn't everyone and their mother getting served court papers for what they're saying now?

according to the lawyers on the case they have never had this much discovery before serving the case, so them sifting through all the information takes time. Plus the other thing is how are they going to go after these people in the best way possible, won't know that till all the current discovery is looked over. All this takes time especially when you consider someone tweeted Vic what was it like 385 times in one day, sounds like a lot of discovery to go through.

Well, yes, building a database is easy, but it's the information in the database that has any value. That's what would be truly lost if ANN were to pull a Stream.me.

Another point is the fact that they sent feelers out on the tour of Tokyo for nearly three times the cost of an actual tour of the city. No details were released on the trip, but it's assumed the food and hotel would not be included. It was a cash grab in the purest of forms.

Because tripping on your shoelace right at the start of litigation is a very bad thing to do. This is a very complex case with many people involved as either witnesses or potential defendants, along with a civil conspiracy so convoluted it makes the betrayal plot lines in game of thrones seem straight foreword. We may see the initial complaints this week or maybe not. I think right now the notice letters and demand for retraction have gone out. Those are not public record.

If this thing goes all the way to trial we probably wont see a Jury empaneled until 2021. And that is if the court moves fairly quickly.

It's also going to happen in waves. The results from the first wave of discovery will fuel who/what is targeted in the second wave. There's been talk from legal experts involved that we might see at least three waves of discovery and litigation.

Edit: A lot could be expedited if any links in the chain wise up and settle. I'm wondering when we'll start a pool of "who's gonna turn first?"

No one was justifying it, they were simply explaining the character. Everyone finds her to be uncivilized and in need of the White Man's Burden. Personally I rated you autistic for the alleged pedo comment regarding Vic and as for the anonymous comments they're pretty much on par with the rest of the bullshit that's been thrown at him: all of it unsubstantiated and not taken seriously.
You can explain her in one sentence: she's a dragon girl with huge knockers who exists to satisfy the author's mother/son kink, and obviously is an absurdly bad choice for shoehorned feminism. No need for all the massive handwringing essays constructed to carefully avoid the fact that the author is openly into kiddy fiddling content. The self-avowed huge fans in this thread should know that he started out with an autobiographical comic where he was casually into little girls, and that the Dragon Maid series itself has suggestive shots of all of the child characters.

"Vic is an alleged pedo" is true - emphasis on the "alleged". Not meaning to say he obviously is one. The point is that the circlejerking in this thread is getting to be silly as hell and burying actual content.

Good luck to the lawyers who have to deal with this shitshow.

So what, they're gonna serve 3 thousand twitter and tumblr and ERA and whatever else people in 1 go?

Likely no. They're only going after the juiciest fruit first. Then work their way down. Basically, the tallest nails sticking out will get the hammer.

Edit: the tallestnails being those that REEEEE the hardest and Vic's coworkers that threw him under the bus.

Sorry, who are you referring to? Are you saying ANN was promoting an overpriced tour? Do you have more info on that?

All the more reason it's probably in everyone's interest to settle.

I remember Nick saying Ty's team likes to move fast. Is ~2 years for a civil suit fast by court standards?

We know that. Vic and his legal team know that. But do Ron "I relish going to court" Toye and the rest of the defendants know that?

Nick is back.

For now.

He hasn't yet gone into whether he won his appeal, or had to do the full 12 hours again.

Insurance is designed to help protect you against accidents. Not willful malicious acts.

Some publications and journalistic endeavors will specifically carry Insurance in the event of Libel, Defamation etc. those policies while very expensive, generally cover or at least don’t argue the point regarding “willful malicious acts” of that sort. Once again Gawker showed what happens when you try and cheat the insurance company. Denton instead of getting the Libel etc coverage, just got a General Liability policy and then attempted to dump the Hogan suit onto them. His insurance carrier sued. The settlement was they would pay for his lawyer, for the initial case only, and would not cover any judgements nor indemnify any employees.

The h3h3 copyright lawsuit took over a year and never actually got to trial. They won that on a motion for summary judgement. From what I have seen it really depends on a bunch of factors, including how much money the defense has. If they sue Sony as an example they will get buried in motions that alone could tack an entire year onto the timeline in order to wade through all the smoke screens big corporate legal teams throw up as a matter of course.

The low level defamation stuff can wait. The first targets are those that had business or professional relationships with the Plaintiff and “journalistic” endeavors who colluded with or conspired with them. Or major players who created a platform for the conspiracy/defamation. Random Twitter supergroup screaming “Vic is a Pedophile” are rather pointless as they have no real voice or reach.

Sidequestion, since when does Twitter allow you to call a named specific individual a “pedophile”? I seem to remember an awful lot of people feeling the banhammer over Nyberg?

Page 106 of this thread.

ANN recently put out a survey on drumming up money since they're almost broke. I guess this is how ANN plans to drum up legal fees

For the low low price of $3000, you too can pretend your friends with your favorite ANN staffer and hang out with them in Japan!

Kiwifarms has multiple learned scholars of the big titty dragon girl show. Fascinating. This warrants reformatting and expanding on as a joint scientific paper for professional submission.

I'm only half sarcastic this is better research than ANN has ever managed.

Let's be honest, we'd be pretty dope on the Anime Titty Monster Newsbeat.
