As far as I know, New Zealand has a pretty open immigration policy because no one wants to live there, and it's a pain in the ass to get there in the first place. Or so I learned when I looked up an actor in What We Do in the Shadows, thinking he was Maori, and it turned out he was Chilean. Basically, if you're not a complete waste of carbon, NZ will probably let you move in.
