Actually wait, I remember something. In high school, I would hang out with a friend and we'd go out to the mall and other places at times, and she had a group of friends I think she met through cons or something who'd we meet up with. And they all had one thing in common: They were hyperactive fujoshi who obsessed over InuYasha, Hetalia, and Fullmetal Alchemist, with the occasional talk of CLAMP and Fruits Basket and just whatever was popular in anime circles that year. Weirdly enough, my friend was actually level-headed about it, she sperged about yaoi sometimes, but she never acted like the "rotten woman" you'd hear about all the time--but maybe she was smart enough to restrain herself around people, I don't know, haven't talked to her in years.
But anyway, I would hear more about their love for FMA and Edward Elric than for Sesshomaru, or even for Germany and Prussia and England and whoever else. In general they loved the show and highly recommended it to me, but their obsession with it kept me from watching it for years because as cool as it sounded, their sperging made it sound girlier and gayer than it is. Still, though, they really loved the series, and while they never told me their con stories, I have no doubt in my mind that at least one of them (particularly the one who would carry around an Edward plushie on her person and pantomime his movements and spouted out trivia about him, she was that much of a fangirl) got to meet Vic and were extremely happy about it.
A part of me is optimistic they didn't drink the kool-aid and have straightened out/gotten smarter about their love for anime (if they still do), but it'd be a bit crazy, if not impractical, if any of them have turned their backs on their favorite voice-actor this past decade for reasons we've seen come out. I dunno, I wonder exactly what the one thread is that's tying everyone who's been hating Vic together outside of being fujoshi ex-fangirls who appear to have a disdain for religion.
