Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Not really that bad, it's accepted that if you're a weeb you're degenerate. I wouldn't advise trying to use their moral puritan angle against them, it doesn't always work.
Yea wasn't looking at it from an angle and more of a "isn't this ironic" moment. Like someone who is Feminist AF is keyed in on Vic possibly attending said con but no qualms on who sponsors said con.

So how bad would it be if say a cosplayer, whose feminist AF, trying to get Vic kicked out of a Hawaiicon. Then praised another con for not inviting/kicking him but the con is sponsored by a Hentai site?

Well then stop going to the biggest anime convention in North America because Fakku sponsors Anime Expo regularly, or at the very least has a huge presence.

I love it when cosplay thots get all moralistic about sex and sexuality. You know they're the people that keep the obnoxious yaoi sellers in business.

For her, not bad. She's just shouting her feelings on a street corner. Its obnoxious, but not legally actionable from what I can see. Any sort of suit would get tossed on 1st amendment grounds. As it should IMO. Keep in mind what got Mark Waid in trouble was not him sperging about Meyer on twitter, it was sperging on twitter, saying he was going to call Antarctic Press about how evil Meyer does, then he DOES call Anatarctic Press, and then their contract with Meyer got shit canned. You really have to go out of your way to get in trouble. What is getting these idiots in trouble is not what they are saying on twitter specifically. Its them doing real actionable shit off of twitter, and then bragging about it on twitter. The tweets are evidence of the legally actionable stuff.

Sabat is probably screaming "But he's an actor" at the screen

Maybe. Chris Sabat's back on Twitter. Where the fuck was he for almost two weeks?

Also, don't know if anyone brought this up, regarding the article Monica posted:
View attachment 696472

I guess this means her good friend, Chris Sabat, is guilty of sexually harassing that one dude from Anime Outsiders.

Monica didn't even post the study. I found out about the study based on the figure she gave. These people tend to do that a lot. They read the headline of a certain article, and use that to state something without even looking at the study.

Jamie Marchi did the same thing. She's stated the "90-98%" likeliness of getting it right, based on the idea that 2-10% of sexual assault cases in the United States are "false". That 2-10% figure is true, but what's always been the problem stated in these studies is the definition of "false". "False" is generally considered two kinds of police reports: reports that are revealed to be false based on evidence, or reports that are listed as sexual assault in which the description of events doesn't constitute sexual assault.

Unsubstantiated reports are neither true nor false.

I've managed to find so little information about the statistics for unsubstantiated reports that I had to go to the Department of Defense website for sexual assault statistics in the military. Here's what I found:
  • 62% of sexual assaults reported to the officials in fiscal year 2017 are cases where there was evidence to enact disciplinary on the assailant
  • 2% of sexual assaults reported to the officials in fiscal year 2017 are cases where there was evidence to show that there was no sexual assault that happened, therefore disciplinary action was put on the accuser
  • 36% of sexual assaults reported to the officials in fiscal year 2017 are cases where there was no evidence of any sexual assault happening, so disciplinary action could not be taken for anyone
I don't know if you can use this to reflect the United States in general, but this is what I have.

But these people don't care. Because they're lazy. They're bimbos. They want to focus on the things they like, not the things that can destroy their viewpoint on society. All it takes is a little research instead of looking at the first headline you see on Google.

There's no way for Vic to win. If he loses the lawsuit(s), we'll get a bunch of I told-you-so's (to be fair if there was enough evidence to convince a jury that'd be warranted).

But if he wins? It's true victims being silenced by threats from lawyers, or [insert demographic here] demonizing victims, or [insert ideology here] raising money so Vic can drive people into poverty with his funded lawsuits.

I don't know about this. It is true that you can't please these banshees that want Vic to die in a river, but at the same time, these court cases are not about whether the sexual assault happened. We know there's no evidence other than the words of the "witnesses". The investigation at Funimation, in all likelihood, only confirmed that these people were in the same place at the same time. Vic probably attested to that. The point of these cases is the defamation and other damages brought on because of them.

I thought maybe we had gotten to the point where reality had hit people. Nope the hugbox is too strong.

It's clear these people don't listen to lawyers. They don't listen to Nick or Ty and their streams. These people live in this massive-ass echo chamber. They have no knowledge of Texas state law. They have no knowledge of Defense by Truth. They just want to say their piece and be devoid of any criticism, debunking, or deconstruction of what they just said.

Yes, that’s why there’s $100K in ‘Sue their ass money’, a BAMN type lawfirm going over the case and a shit ton of support for Vic.

Is there a literal hamster wheel in this guy’s head? Did the wheel get stuck?

Compare that with the fact that Jamie's GoFundMe is still not reached its stated goal after 17 days, despite the clout that this controversy received, meanwhile Vic's was funded in less than two weeks.

This isn't a competition. It shows that Vic's fans, and by extension the right and the just, will support him, while the progressives who say they support the people they claim they support don't.

Chris says Vic is an actor, but again I ask. WHY WOULD HE GO TO COURT? Does Chris think that Vic would try to be a sympathize with judge and jury? Try to fake cry so they can feel bad for him? Can y'all tell me when has the accuser ever been the one to suggest going to court?

CR produces their own dubs, usualy with Bang Zoom.We have yet to see if they want Vic in their stuff or not,but since he voiced Ranpo in Bungo Stray Dogs,we will find that out in season 3.There's also Netflix's Baki, with the later half being dubbed right now

CR is cancerous as fuck. Some of CR's staff either work with or signal boost AnimeFeminist, which is the base of one of those SJW tricks I mentioned before -- SJWs inside a company (US Localizers) using SJWs outside a company (AnimeFeminist) to create pressure to "force" them to do something they both want.

I would be absolutely gobsmacked if they have Vic back for season 3.

Nothing official yet, though Nick did strongly hint at some kind of letters being sent out late last week and arriving this week.

If anything, they might've received C&D papers (I forget the exact name), followed by papers telling them to preserve evidence. The actual lawsuit papers come after that.

I want to see them burn, dammit
Unfortunately we've reached the part where we have to sit and wait. BHBH is generating !!FUN!! behind closed doors, things are developing at a similar pace to before the curtain was drawn, but we won't be able to see it for the next, and i base this estimate on my years of experience of pulling things out of my ass, 4-5 months since this is supposed to be a fast pace case.
I imagine every 3-4 weeks now we'll get a 3 hour Rackets stream rounding up all recent info that he's allowed to give, and when the floodgates eventually open we'll have a full week of autismal circus as the pails of well aged milk are brought forth. Hell, discovery data alone will probably wreck Nick's vocal chords and sleep schedule.

I'd assume a retraction request pursuant to Texas defamation law, because you have to send that before you can pursue an action if you want exemplary (punitive) damages.

Well, I wouldn't assume anything actually until we see it, but that's the most likely thing to be sent first.

I think I missed something.
They've been served, right? It's way overdue.
I'm under the impression they prob did get served but they're playing like they didn't?

To our knowledge they have not been served with a lawsuit yet. But "rumor" is the initial and required formal lettrrs demanding retraction, and to preserve all evidence and communication went out last friday. At least to some parties. Once those go out they get some time to comply. Then the lawsuit gets filed.

I don't have con stories since I've only attended my first and so far only one con a few years ago and nothing really stood out about it. I did get to be in the panel Maurice LaMarche had, and outside of being too nervous to get up and ask a question I didn't know what to ask, I didn't feel any kind of tension in the room. He was more than happy to tell stories (and got a bit choked up talking about his father), and he was personally sad that Rob Paulsen couldn't join him at that panel because he had thrown out his voice. Backing up what Doug TenNapel had said on Nick's stream about LA voice actors, Maurice didn't talk shit about anyone, not even when he briefly said to withhold judgment for the new Ghostbusters movie and give it a chance (don't remember what brought that up--I could always go look for the podcast that recorded that panel). On the other end of the building, my friend and his brother had a very positive experience with the Jess Harnell autograph session at the same con, and I imagine the energy meeting him is the same as with meeting Vic based on stories and videos I've seen.

So my takeaway is LA voice actors are thrilled to meet and chat with fans, people from Texas aren't.

On Tatum, the only thing I can think of that was funny is when he joked about going through the drive-thru at Jack in the Box and would roleplay as Enel from One Piece.

When I did get an autograph from him, for no extra charge he left a voicemail for an acquaintance of mine.

Oh, so it wasn't a one-time thing, then? I remember seeing a video of him recording a voicemail for someone; guess it's a special request, but the fact he doesn't charge extra for it is really sweet.

Speaking of voicemail requests:
(This was the video I was thinking of, I think, everything's getting buried by this drama.)

Pretty much. The best we can do is to just send Nick and Vic's lawyers any information that passes our way that involves these jesters sperging out on Twitter or could compromise these people and their credibility. All without bothering them about it. Besides that, we just have to chill and chat on Kiwi Farms about it until the time comes. I've sent whatever I could to Nick.

As for Vic, he might have to stick with Viz Media and others for now. He's still doing Jojo. He's also doing the second half of Baki. He might be in One Punch Man Season 2 or even Boruto. He could be in Blade Runner: Black Lotus, whenever that comes out. He has his audiobooks as well, and I think it's about time he steps his toe into video games, even if he ends up doing it for non-major roles, like additional voices or walla.

But I do wonder about these other studios these voice actors claim Vic's been kicked out of. Which ones are these? Do they even exist and can they be contacted about them? It seems that even if Vic got kicked out of these studios, he's still somehow making even more money and getting more popularity than before. It's just weird that this would be the case.
