Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

My stance on the matter as of right now is that while I doubt many of the bigger accusations (read, any of the ones that got traction) are true, I ultimately do think Vic began going on autopilot when it came to hugging and general close proximity with people during conventions- something Vic himself has admitted happened. I don't think Vic's a predator/rapist/whatever, just an overall decent guy who got dealt a bad hand.

Granted if he's found guilty I will retract everything but my gut tells me Vic's not the bad guy here, and that he'll get cleared.

Yeah, that video is BS. It's true that Vic's campaign isn't showing up on GFM's front page, but only three campaigns are. Vic's campaign still shows up as the first result if you search for "Vic Mignogna" or "Vic Kicks Back" using the search tool. That's not a shadow banning by any stretch of the imagination.

Pot-stirring attempt denied, clown.

And even if it weren't promoted by GFM on the main page for some evil nefarious reason, who gives a shit?

That's not how GFMs get passed around. You don't wake up one day, go to GFM's main page, and then say "Oh, I wonder what random ass shit I'll donate to today. Oh, look it's a semi-famous voice actor that got metooed, I'll give him some money."

So, I watched Vic’s livestream on the Unlocked app. Here’s what he talked about:
  • He player racquetball with Chuck Huber (I think that’s what he said) before the stream.
  • He showed us some neat lightsabers, some custom-made.
  • He showed some Pop! figurines of characters he’s voiced, some also custom-made.
  • He talked about the Tulepo convention, Anime Matsuri and one in Georgia (I forgot the name).
  • Played some music on his piano.
He’s doing alright, pretty much.

Speaking of hair, like, what fuck is up with Dangerhairs dying their hair in all sorts of colors you'd find out of anime? Granted, their hair styles are butch and they only accentuate ugly as sin, especially if a womyn is a fat lardass exceptionalist "too good for a treadmill", but they honestly should leave the dye alone.

When it comes to anime hair, isn't it supposed to help accentuate an otherworldliness, to help emphasize how unreal the medium is, and also help present some sort of fantastical nature to its toon physics? It also doesn't help that hentai is all about female and male submission, tentacle monster or not, which to all womyn means "PROBLEMATIC OPPRESSION RREEEEEEE". I always thought that if anime hair was to become the norm, it would have been done in like this cyberpunk/punk stance of standing out as a human being. I don't even mind the whole association of aposematism, as that could be much like how the word bad was used to describe cool, like "badass motherfucker", or how like the radiation symbol was to garner someone with the image of being "contagiously cool". Maybe I'm old, but the future sure went south. Dangerhairs really put in the aposemathism with toxicity of being really shitty people.

It’s interesting that there’s more crossover between this and ComicsGate than with GamerGate. The incompetence of KickVic is also amusing.

It’s odd how their hairstyles are boring despite dying it.

Strange that Chuck Huber would do this after he publicly stated his support for Jamie Marchi:

I'm sure someone will post Vic's stream to confirm.

Go talk to that little birdie and get those details to share

I might not have to. You might just have to wait a few more hours.

Especially since Monica has previously described said “attack” as taking place in the public lobby, and involving him touching her hair and whispering “something sexual” in her ear... that she can’t remember or quote.
That was Jamie Marchi, Monica's alleged assault was being kissed after going to his hotel room.

Amazes me how these people think Vic is smart enough to be an evil mastermind criminal able to assault women for decades while dodging all cameras, and yet they also claim he's so painfully innocent and naive he's being manipulated and used by Nick somehow.

I believe Vic said Chuck Huber. I’ll double-check when the archive comes through. I don’t want Huber getting a ton of attention from KickVic people.
It probably was Chuck. There was an old video Vic posted on his twitter before all this where he mentioned meeting Chuck for racquetball. Chuck didn't say he hated Vic, but he said Marchi was brave and honest which makes it pretty fucking weird to be friendly with the guy she's accusing. Vic might not even know what he said if he's not following twitter closely.

Well, it's been nearly a month. A lot can change during that time.

I mean, he did voice Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho. For as capricious as Hiei's character was, he was the fucking badass of the group, and he always came back. Who knows? Maybe Chuck will pull out his own Dragon of the Darkness Flame when things get real.

Are you sure it isn't Kyle Hebert?
From what I know, Kyle has not said anything about the Weeb Wars at all.

The actual reason anime characters have different style and color hair is so that characters stand out and become more memorable. Japanese people are pretty homogeneous, so if everyone had black hair, it would make for a pretty confusing show.

It's to show they're 'not like other girls', despite the fact so many of them do the exact same thing with their hair. It's to stand out, but ironically had become such a norm in their sphere that the true way to stand out among dangerhairs would be to not dye their hair and rock the natural color.

God dammit rackets is suck a tease

Just don't wash your hair every god damn day. Your skin naturally produces oils that keep the scalp healthy and if you wash it every day you wash those oils out which dries out the scalp and causes it to flake.Do it every other day at a maximum or every 3 days at a minimum

Exactly! The candy colored hair is used as a cheap animation trick to better differentiate characters without adding hand drawn detail. Thus vastly saving production costs and increasing production speed.

I'm running through my head what it might be, given that it is delaying his show. It could be that Ty is in the final phase of some sort of negotiation with Funimation, or somebody else. I'm convinced that one of these idiots (possibly one of the minor ones) is gonna break.

I dunno. Just thinking aloud.
