Ok look I believe this story as much as the next guy but something feels......fishy. Not to question our Lord and Saviors Nick's integrity as he has no reason to lie (as far as I am aware of) but like how does he know this was the owner of Kamehacon and why can't we see the 3 hour text message of Sabat and Rial harassing the dude? I'm sorry, I feel a little skeptical about it.
Only reference to it being the con owner was in this very thread and that was shot down pretty quick, it's likely that the person who has spoken to Nick has proven they are who they say they are to Nick. I seriously doubt Nick is going to get the ole razzle dazzle from one of the kick Vic spastics.

Maybe his source didn't want to release the texts? From what I've gathered, his source was overwhelmed and just wanted the whole situation to blow over. Maybe they thought that if they handed the texts over to the proper authorities, they could keep their head low?

That's just me guessing, though.

But either way, consider this: If Vic doesn't come to the con, there will be a lot more people at the con potentially buying their stuff. Therefore, they reasonably stand to gain from Vic not being a guest.
That's such garbage zero-sum logic that I sincerely hope that's not really what's going on here. Someone who's a Vic fan is not necessarily someone who would be a Rial or Sabat fan if Vic suddenly ceased to exist. Maybe this Vic fan also likes them and would buy merch from them too, at least until they find out why Vic's not at the con this year. Conversely maybe they don't even bother to show up since Vic won't be there, and Rial and Sabat miss out on a potential sale or new fan that way.

Anyway, I sincerely hope KicVic-ers read your post. You can argue the morality of what Sabat and Rial did (and what KamehaCon was pressured to do), but you cannot argue the legality.

Nick himself is not claiming his informant is the owner of KamehaCon. Whoever it is likely does not have direct access to the texts. There's still a chance that his informant is a double agent playing out a gay op for the record books, but I'm still willing to give Nick the benefit of the doubt at this point.

Ok with the crap the KickVic side has pulled something similar to this. I can't help but have second thoughts

OP has been updated

New Paragraph added to the "Threat of Lawsuit" section, bringing the timeline foreword to the present
Shane Holmberg and Chris Sabat join the main cast
Link added to hope chapmans farms thread
First Paragraph was changed to reflect Allison Cookes claim that she never tried to get Vic to sign Yaoi. Instead it will read about the formation of the Fujoshi Whisper network she was a part of.

Is Amanda Winn Lee going on the Main Cast portion, too?
Especially, since Nick pointed this out:
Possibly something BHBH should look at or already have looked at.

Which is a reasonable and prudent thing to keep in mind.

It is tempered by the fact that since these latest revelation have come out more of the uber defiant have suddenly shut up and obtained legal counsel, so it's also reasonable to assume there is some fire to this smoke as well.

These revelations made me realize something.
Geekdom101 has been intimately involved with KamehaCon in the past.
I wonder if he knows something about what happened with the owner and, if he knew, when did he know it.

This is why Rial and Sabat are doing it now, it's worked in the past AND the intended target has proved to be vulnerable to it.

That's what I meant last night, while we have hope and a lot of new drama, we don't tangibly have anything new. Just words that make the "stand" side sound like the "kick" side until they can be validated.

LOL.

Ty is a happy man now, I guess.

Except Peter was able to be reinvited (whether from fan backlash or what, don't think it was ever stated what the retraction was for). There was a reconsideration to get Vic back before Sabat and Rial swooped down on the owner.

We are definitely going to see a lawsuit this week. Ty has probably held off because these morons are constantly giving him more and more rope. At this point though he now knows the effort to undermine vics career has not stopped and the demand letters are being ignored. He just needs to get a sworn statement from the Con owner and then get this all in front a judge with a demand for an emergency injunction that orders all these idiots to stop talking about Vic to anyone.

I fucking HOPE we see something soon. Looking forward to tonight's stream.

The answer to all of the above. Because Ron's Lawyer is charging him $500/hr to watch Nick's videos on the subject. Just at a rough guestimate that would seem to be at least 15 hours of Nick Video. KaChing! And that's before even digging into the merits of the case. And what will he learn from Nick's Video's? That his client is a complete moron, And due to his clients own acts and statements this will be an expensive problem to solve. KaChing! Amd once again, as I keep pointing out, for Ron, this is ALL sunk costs. $7500 just to watch Nick. His bill will be up to $50k by next week alone. And for what? Because he brought a willfull Tort upon himself? And even when appraised of such, he continued to keep doing it. And you can tell these fools still don't get it. They still don't grasp that there is anything wrong with what they did. "But We Say He's A Rapist!!!!"

Oh and Ron is a licensed Mortgage Broker. He's now involved in a TI civil matter. If he lets this go to court, what does that do to his license?
Yeah I'd have to honestly ask here: what the hell do they even have? So far it's been PROVEN publicly that people on that side of the isle have edited a video to make Vic look bad, censored faces in pictures and claimed they were victims only for the 'victims' to come out and tell them to stop using their pictures without permission and that it was consented hugging, engaged in textbook TI with a contract and what could very potentially be labelled blackmail/extortion by being schoolyard bullies to a convention owner, of which there may be logs and thus hard evidence of such and AFTER receiving official letters not to delete anything.

The lawyer would probably charge him for time looking over stuff but what afterwards? Is there an incentive to take on a case he knows is textbook in Vic's favor?

It doesn't have to be zero sum. It just has to mean that they'd gain something. And really, it just has to mean that they think they'd gain something... even if they're wrong and the con and the guests would just lose money all around.

That's when he suggests settling on the best terms that can be arranged (at further cost). It would be amusing to see MoniRon's faces when they realize they've just paid someone to tell them they'll lose and their best option is to crawl to Vic/Ty on their knees and beg for mercy.

If the guy is getting paid up front (and I'm sure he's not taking this shit on contingency), my guess is he'll drag this out for as long as he can before the only thing he could do is resort to arguments made in bad faith, and then have to give them the bad news (I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt he ain't Landau).

That means I think he'll at least try for a dismissal under TCPA. Nick suggests that is a given and Beard is tailoring the initial complaint to overcome that most important of hurdles.

But I gotta be honest with you all: I'm not taking Ron's comment at face value that that guy is his lawyer. I would expect some sort of confirmation for that. After all, that's what KickVic demanded before the five magic words were uttered.

Anyone else sad that he didn't tweet "Thanks for the gift, friend." so he can continue the trend of five words per tweet?

Fair reasoning, but why would he lie? I doubt Vic is quaking in his boots when BHBH is on he case. From what I've heard their reputation precedes them. I doubt Ty would care if he's facing off against a rich-guy lawyer

Funny how PULL is still obsessing over Rackets profitting from vicstan. If I was in that camp, the obviously more important thing is Soye Boye got a new shining super lawyer, and soon could beat vicstan in court. Yet no one there was talking about it.

Hey there MindlessObserver, just a quick fix up from me on that.

Hope Chapman is the boyfriend/girlfriend of Zac Bertschy, not Christopher MacDonald. As appropriately stated from fellow Zac Bertschy insider and specialist @GaryPotter:

I have a history with Zac.

Zac Bertschy is a worthless piece of trash, a wannabee film critic who was born about 40 years too late to make a middle-class income clacking at a typewriter for a newspaper. He has a worthless degree (Associates in Asian culture or something close to that) and is stuck at ANN making just enough money to live in a shitty apartment in Glendale and buy bugman toys for himself and his live-in transcreature. He's also, short, ugly, and 38 years old. Previously he was also a depressed morbidly obese alcoholic who suffered a coronary in 2014 and had to radically change his diet. He mentioned once that prior to meeting Hope his only "romantic conquest" was a long-term relationship with a single mother. I'm willing to bet he was a virgin at the time and he stays with Hope because he knows the alternative is to basically die alone. I despise the man and hope he drops dead.

Oh, and he also had a website in which he rambles to nobody about his useless boring life: https://www.zacbertschy.com

For info on Chris, as according to Crunchbase (Archive):

"A former network engineer and administrator by trade, Christopher Macdonald lives in Montreal, Quebec, Canada with his wife and four cats. His first real exposure to anime (or japanimation as he knew it then) was Bubblegum Crisis which he saw in the summer of 1989. In 2000 he submitted a guest editorial to Anime News Network, and soon became co-editor-in-chief, along with George Phillips. Originally the site was a hobby for both of them, however in 2003 Macdonald left his networking job in order to focus exclusively on ANN and in 2004 Phillips stepped down from his position as co-editor-in-chief. For several years, Macdonald wrote all of ANN's news and personally edited every article on ANN, however as the site and its staff grew he had to focus on "managing" the site and now leaves most of the editorial work in the capable hands of ANN's editors and contributors. Reflecting his shifting responsibilities, Macdonald stepped down from the editor-in-chief position in late 2010. As publisher, his editorial involvement is mostly limited to planing the editorial "direction" of the website.
Aside from anime, he has many other interests, for which he has little time. Those that he does make some time for include motorsport, traveling, skiing and cycling."

(Well, better send out those applications while they last Chris.)

Enjoy the infodump.

I don't think he's lying either. I think he tweeted who his lawyer was less to scare Vic and more to make an impression on Nick and Vic's supporters. They are obsessed with their image on social media, it's pathetic for people their age.

I also find it weird how the entire kick side other than Shane and Renfamous are just balatantly ignoring the entire shitstorm of Sabat and Monica harassing a con owner in general
They are just making petty jabs at Nick making a profit from his videos and treating THAT as some sort of GOTCHA while pretending the whole con harassment thing never even happened
