Jesus, lol. Those polls always oversample Democrats, too. That's just nuts.
Oh no, he lost a chunk of support from a demographic that was quite likely not going to vote for him. Whatever shall he do.

EDIT - I'm so fucking tired, I didn't notice the word 'impeaching'. That's actually an astonishing figure.

Came across this. At least half of those were done under Obama and he did fuck all to prevent gun violence.

tl;dr - it's been X days since "Notable Mass Shooting" and the us hasn't done anything for gun laws. Meanwhile, New Zealand, a small nation many magnitudes times smaller than the US, in pop and size, is passing "good" gun laws 10 days since their Mass Shooting. Vote Blue.

->A foreign(Aussie) terrorist shoots up NZers
->Disarm NZers

Doubt it. This is the party that wants to eliminate the Electoral College and increase the number of people in the Supreme Court because of muh feels.
Agreed. If needed, every day will bring a new outrage to these maniacs. It's a Bacchanal of emotional dysregulation.

While there are a lot of shrieking crazies on Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook, it may come as a shock that a good majority of people who vote Democrat are just normal people. The party heads may want one thing but the people voting for them are another thing entirely.
Most who vote Dem do so because they grew up Dem, don't like what the GOP has to offer, think the GOP will take everything away, hate Trump, or are just left-leaning in general.

So if the party wants to keep doing it, it's their wish. But it didn't help the GOP back when they tried it with Clinton; doing it now would likely be as much a disaster for them.

The big-L Libertarian party has degenerated into Democrats 2: Leftist Harder. Gary Johnson was actually further left than many of Hillary's public stances, besides being a stoned idiot. They got so focused on "We're the party of legalized pot! Doesn't that make you want to vote for us, Youth Vote?!" that they completely and totally lost any form of quality control over their party. Given a choice between voting for Bernie Sanders and voting for Gary Johnson I'd vote for a meteor to hit the debate.
I get the impression that a lot of the old "taxes and not legally smoking weed sucks and I don't care about religion" libertarians got in to the GOP with the tea partyers, thus leaving the pile of whatever the hell they are these days.

This account is a throw away since it seems there's a bit of interest in this thread on the LP.

I can speak to this as someone with a party seat. By and large we get more ex tea party folks then the other way around, and we bleed GOP local leadership far more than we do the democrats as well. The main reason that you see so many stupid posts that have terrible optics like the one a couple of pages back, is that even at the state leadership level the party is run by people who don't really understand how to market. The only good messaging we have comes from some folks at a national level, but even most of that is garbage. That said, the Dems and GOP aren't really much better about keeping local folks in line.

The most valuable thing you could know about the LP right now though is that the current strategy at a national levvel has largely pivoted to supplanting the GOP in deep blue areas. There are quite a few districts that are never going to go for an R, and the GOP quite frankly isn't built to even make an attempt at a run in a district like NY's 14th.

There's literally no evidence whatsoever McCain was involved in the fire on the Forrestal.
The official story is that a missile malfunctioned while another plane was being armed and struck the plane next to mccain's. He was in his plane doing preflight checks when this happened. So he was definitely involved. Whether he was actually responsible is what is contested.

[X] Doubt
NYT couldn't get it right either.

Donald Trump said "mexico is sending their rapists" in 2015 - this was back when Trump was most famous for getting dunked on by Obama in the white house press correspondence over his birther claims, hitting Vince McMahon with a chair on wrestle-mania, and having a hit TV show called the apprentice. Perversely, in the fucking crazy system that US politics, going on about building walls and mexico and rapists is apparently what you need to say to get taken seriously as a presidential candidate. If he hadn't come on that strong, people would've considered him a joke candidate and blew him off.
Hey, you might be right. It would just be nice, when I'm trying to convince someone that Trump isn't Hitler Mc Klanface, if there weren't a bunch of quotes from him where he sounds like a wannabe Hitler Mc Klanface. I personally think he could have been elected without the "Mexicans are rapists" or "Muslim ban" stuff, but maybe I'm wrong.

But the larger point about not playing the democrat's game is completely on point, and this is why I may end up voting for trump in 2020, even while being annoyed with the idiotic things he says. The dems want you to play their fixed game, where the rules are only ever enforced against you. If a dem says something insanely racist, oops, no big deal. If a republican does it they have to self flaggelate for the rest of time. I completely get that and agree with the posters saying you can't win that way.

I, like a lot of you, have been desperate for a conservative (or republican, or whatever you want to call it) to fucking punch back. It was fucking awful watching Bush 2 getting trashed and never even attempting to defend himself. It was terrible watching Romney squirm about the "binders full of women", it would have been so wonderful if he just said "We had more women working for us than Obama, no matter what word games you play. Fake news."

I just wish for every one of those there wasn't some fucking cringeworthy thing for the anti-trump people to throw back. Saying "He had to say that to get elected" leads to "Oh, so he had to be an awful racist to get elected? So the conservative base is racist!"

It's an old, old tired battle that's been going on as long as I've been alive. Every time they are handed more ammunition I can't help but groan. It's stupid of me, no matter what they're not going to say "Oh ok, I guess you guys aren't all a bunch of racists".

If no matter what they’ll cry racism than fuck them. Calling gravity racist doesn’t make water flow uphill. Do the right thing and let them scream themselves hoarse in fury.

From my cold, dead hands.

So since a foreigner came in and shot up a New Zealand mosgue, NZ is banning guns for Kiwis.

Guess this means since foreigners run over Europeans on bridges and Christmas Markets, Europe should ban box trucks.

Or since foreigners killed thousands in 2001, the US should ban all airliners.

Yeah, there were definitely some exceptional things said, notably the Muslim ban one and the sending their rapists one. But in a way, I don't think it would have mattered. It was a no-win for him. If he had chosen a PoC for a running mate, he would have been called a racist lording over them with his position of power. I don't think he could do anything to have avoided that.

So although he says a lot of ridiculous things, I really don't think there was any way for him to get a break. Everything he would say would be interpretted in the most uncharitable fashion regardless.

I still cringe at a lot he says though, of course, and shake my head at the stupidity of some comments.

I think that’s fair that some comments he makes are fucking dumb, but there’s not exactly a brain trust in opposition to him. Their stupid shit just doesn’t get reported on for a week and a half or longer. However long the Krassenstein types have been trying to make covfefe an own. It’s autistic to fixate on that or Obama’s 57 states comment; but the issue is that the autism society of New York is partisan.
