Yeah I vaguely remember him mentioning Toei knows about this and is watching closely. To be fair the Japan Times I'm pretty sure is by Americans for Americans. It's just located in Japan.

The jovial nature of this stream, and the lack of the typical lawyer speak when discussing a case.......it feels like this is going to be a rubber stamp win for Vic as The Beard has many of them by the balls. The public evidence seems damning; I can only imagine what the IT personnel have discovered.

Japan Times are run and read by expats, they're not really relevant to Japan. You're better off reading something like mainichi.jp which has a good English translated section if you can't read Japanese but want intel on Japanese news.. What's funny is that progressives will fall all over themselves pointing to the Japan Times as an authoritative voice of Japanese press while at the same time screeching about cultural imperialism - which is what JT basically is.

I think that Rial and Sabat initially told them criminal charges were gonna be filed, so they dropped Vic. When that didn't pan out, they decided they would bring him back (why not, he's a headliner right?). Then Rial and Sabat probably threatened to walk, which given Sabat's featured status would have tanked the con. So the director capitulated, dropped Vic, and has potentially decided not to run any future conventions just because he doesn't want to deal with these people.

Does this sound right based off what we know? If so, holy shit... Rial and Sabat are totally fucked.
