Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

On the flipside, opposing counsels (like BHBH) putting together a SLAPP-proof lawsuit is just as automatic as trying to beat it via anti-SLAPP. So putting all your hopes on the most obvious tactic is just... silly.

They'd know that. If they'd gotten a lawyer.

These absolute idiots nuked that defense from orbit when they extorted an illegal breach of contract by threatening to illegally breach their own contract.

Any of that other bullshit, as flimsy and against the case law as it is, completely flies out the window now. No matter what Vic did, it doesn't matter. You can't illegally breach a contract or threaten to do it to get someone else to breach a contract illegally themselves.

This is actually dumber than what Mark Waid did, because when Waid committed his supreme stupidity, he had no knowledge he was in legal jeopardy.

These utter fucking morons committed the most brazenly illegal act of tortious interference (and possibly even criminal extortion) after having already been put on notice that everything they do was going to be put under a fucking microscope and there was a fully funded $100K war chest just to start up the process of burning them to the ground.

It doesn't surprise me that they'd pull the 'if he shows we won't show' card, because by all accounts Sean did this exact same thing to Peter Kelamis last year at Kamehacon (it got out because Peter tattled on him to social media, and Sean eventually retracted it and all parties pretended that's not what he did).

So they have a habit of extorting Kamehacon in particular by threatening to walk. I can see why they thought they could do it again - I'm guessing the threat of charges originally was because they knew Vic was worth too much to the con to pull that with him, while Kelamis doesn't matter. What's baffling is that they'd step it up to this level of screaming harassment when they KNEW that Kamehacon was sympathetic toward Vic and on some level in contact with him and his legal team. Why would you light yourself on fire just to try to put out the house? It's breathtakingly stupid and totally shattered any chance for those three to come out unscathed.

ETA: considering this, to me this lends more weight to Sabat not being Iago. Risking Igor doing this is one thing, but flexing his own muscles in a way that would finger him when he's already being suspected for his involvement is next level stupid.
Everything these people have done so far has been next level stupid. Why would anything change now?

Sakura Con is finally taking its revenge for that infamous commercial Vic directed.

I wonder if there's a timeline where Sakura Con failed because no one knew it existed without Vic's commercial..."

Probably not.

Sakura Con is one of the few anime cons that ever did a commercial. AX did some brief spots around the same time.

I don't think weebs get most of their info from local TV.

Ok so what did Ty say about Igor's lawyer exactly? Like I wanna say he said Iago would not pay for the lawyer and now I am curious if he was hinting to Toye that his expensive lawyer would come out of his own pocket and not Iago's. Sorry just bad memory with details and all.

Holy shit. I think I remember seeing that a decade ago. I wonder what Mr. Black Lipstick is doing today.

And Vic is responsible for that cringe-fest? Okay, to be fair to the #KicVic-ers, if he's capable of ding that horrifying thing, I suppose he could be capable of anything…

What he said is that 'Iago won't get you a lawyer, Igor, no matter what he tells you. He's not going to do it'. Thus, it seems Iago has been telling Igor not to worry, and that he'll get him a lawyer to cover for whatever legal action goes down. However, Ty is sure Iago won't do that, because Iago doesn't care if Igor burns.

Since he said this after Ron lawyered up, it rules out Ron as Igor.

Really makes you wonder how the hell Allison got a teaching job in Japan in the first place. She does not seem very well adjusted socially.

JET and the other similar companies will literally take anyone. There's several companies like that, one of them that's well known as a scam that preys both on idiotic weebs that want to be in Japan and Japanese people who want a piece of paper that says they were trained in English by an authentic American.

Basically be wary of any claims of teaching English in Japan. There's a large chance you're dealing with a weeb that is working for slave wages just for the "experience," or a hipster living off daddy's credit card while making literal slave wages to "be with real Japanese SUGOI KAWAII DESU =^_^=."

We're just repeating ourselves now. We came to the same conclusion earlier.

Oh boy. Nick just called out ANN Zac.
This is the legal, noncomedic version of BRING OUT YOUR DEAD.

I was wondering why Nick made the announcement he would be glad to hear any assault stories, even if they involve Vic, and give full confidentiality.

So, while there's a lull, I have a question: Despite being an anime fan for about four decades, I've never actually watched much of DB before.

Can you just start at episode 1 of the original 1986 series? I don't have an issue with 80s anime. I actually kinda like it a bit better in some ways than the modern stuff.

Not the most lyrically talented, but here's my version of a classic from Erikah Badu sung through the eyes of Marchi, Rial, ect.

Alright, I'm gettin' tired of your shit
You don't never buy me nothin'
See every time you come around
You got to bring Nick, Amazon Prime, and Tyrone

See why can't we be by ourselves, sometimes
I've been cucking Ron for a long time
I just want it to be, you and me, like It used to be, Baby
But ya don't know how to act

So matter of fact, I think ya better call Tyrone (call him)
And Tell him come on, help you get your shit (come on, come on, come on)
You need to call Tyrone (call him)
And tell him I said come on

Now everytime I ask you for a little cash
You say no and turn right around and donate to Vic's ass.
Oh, Well hold up, listen partna, this ain't no cheap thrill
Cause We'll Be In Touch is comin' for real you know the deal, we need to get a lawyer.

Every time we go somewhere, we gotta start a GFM to get us there.
To pay your way and my way because we fucked up all the way.
We don't have money to pay, don't have oil for the cars
Hang around in bars try to fuck around with stars like Todd.

I'ma tell you the truth
Show some proof or get the boot
I think ya better (call him)
And tell him come on, help you get your shit
You need to call Tyrone (call him)
Hold on but ya can't use my phone (cause I need to start a GFM for it).

Not sure, not a fan of the multi season Anime stuff so I tend to avoid it like the plague.

You can either start at episode one of 'Dragonball' or episode one of 'Dragonball Z'. The proper beginning of it is Dragonball, and it's where a bunch of characters get to shine who get ignored from Z onward, but you won't be too confused or crippled if you choose to skip it, you'll just miss out on the bulk of the character development for the main cast.
