TGWTG's content creators have a universal commonality in that they were all mediocre have-nots with minimal skills and life experience who rode a brief but intense trend to success. I think you could also make an argument that its culture and influence subconsciously funneled most of them into the same poor life and career decisions.

This happens when an already incompetent awkward nerds get a taste of internet fame. They weren't ready for how cruel the real world is outside their Internet pop culture circlejerk. That's why they had such a miserable experience working with Michaud: with barely any experience making money on the Internet or even working for other people in some cases, they got a taste on how shit employers can be in the real world. Besides, these reviewers were very awkward and socially inept people from a time where nerdy shit was not as accepted as today, and they were probably very isolated from others. Then they gained fame and recognition from others, they believed that they were better than anyone because they win money online making the nerdy shit that everyone else ignored. It's the tragic cautionary tale of people who weren't ready to face the fame they won with their reviews.
