So. Buddy VS Duff, a new series on Food Network that had it's first episode on March 10th and is going to be 12(?) episodes long. The premise is simple, have the infamous Cake Boss Buddy Valastro and Ace of Cakes Duff Goldman compete against each other via baked goods.

The first episode was... Interesting to say the least, particularly the end when Buddy basically had a childish fit over losing the second half of the episode. So who knows how much of a shit show this'll be.

This is the closest I’ve ever been to watching Cake Boss.
Fucking thing of beauty, thank you so much for this.

In all seriousness: I can't bring myself to watch the Food Network anymore. I'll occasionally fall asleep with Chopped on or watch Good Eats if I have fuck all to do, but most of the shows like this one are fucking snoozefests.

Cutthroat Kitchen was great, because Alton was great and he really fucked with people.

Iron Chef America was great, because Alton and you could tell everyone was passionate as shit about the show.

Chopped passes because it's predictable in format (rarely does anything BATSHIT happen like it has in Iron Chef America and Cutthroat Kitchen) and more "analytical" than the other shows IMO, much more serious despite the weird shit in those baskets.

Food Network could die in the next 10 years, they will never pull numbers like they did post 9/11. That was a perfect storm. No Netflix to compete, and food is so far separated from politics/the tragedy that occurred that people were just drawn to it. It's sad, really.

Alton's the REAL boss. I mostly Iron Chef Canada because the chairman of Kitchen Stadium was a huge, honey-glazed ham with a slab of cheese.

I read what happened in episode 2, i'll be shocked if anyone can prove it wasn't rigged, Buddy won despite doing nothing that deserve to win BOTH challenges, it's unbelievable

Honestly I got the feeling they gave Buddy those wins just to avoid another babyfit.

Yeah, I actually thought the show sounded interesting st first, but Buddy’s actions kinda ruined it for me. I often wondered why a big name like him didn’t work with FN more, now I know why. At least other celebrity chefs can keep the melodrama off camera.

I’ll stick to Spring Baking championship, and reruns of the Great British Baking show.

The show started with just the one judge, then after Buddy threw his temper tantrum, now they have two judges and one "advisor" to help with deciding who won.

I have no doubt now that Buddy will end up the overall winner to keep him happy. Duff is mature enough to deal with it.

God, buddy is such a fucking baby. It’s embarrassing.

Also, I wish something more than bragging rights were at stake here, but’s it’s still pretty fun to watch.

If Buddy doesn't gets a thread on KF i'll be dissapointed, he's either a lolcow or damn near one

Don’t do my boy Duff like this. :(
I miss Ace of Cakes. Maybe I’m looking back with rose tinted glasses, but I don’t remember there being much drama in that show. Just a bunch of chill people making crazy intricate cakes. Now if I want to get my fancy-cakes-I-could-never-afford fix I need to let some Italian and his dysfunctional family shriek “ FAHGETABOUTIT CANNOLI MAMA MIA” in my ears for thirty minutes.
Is Geof in this new show? He was one of my favorites of AoC.
