From what I have learned watching Comicsgate is that these niche businesses tend to be run in incredibly incestuous ways, and the heads of these tire piles are incredibly petty and small. Legal attention being brought to this stuff wont change the attitudes from people on their tire piles, as they have been yertles in their own shitty world for so long they will just Mark Waid over any opposition (See also, Black Roses).
They don't seem to realize it only takes a small spark for their tire piles to become a marvelous self feeding tire fire that we all come running to with marshmallows.

Amatuer anime fan collaborations, especially news outlets, always suffer from Dunning Kruger, but ANN especially suffers from the SJW entitlement fatheaded fuckery that's been pushed out recently. ANN also gets sponsorship money from Funimation via ad rev. Controlling information can get you to think you rule the world.
3 & 4: We've been through how ANN is financially lightweight, but I wouldn't be surprised that Zac is money savvy.
