You don't really need personal experience to recognise that. Besides just generally knowing that type of content gets cheap views, I noticed at one point that multiple Youtubers I knew were running such channels as a side gig without even advertising it.

If he was trying to make money through Youtube, the first much easier step would be to just enable ads on his main channel.

I think the more likely scenario is that he was making more money than we think through superchats and now has significant savings, got a real job again or both.

Maybe Jim is a miser who can subsist on less than 10k a year.
