I think you're applying the comic to a limited view of your own hobbies. Think a bit more broadly. My own experiences line up a bit better with the comic itself (a tabletop gaming community) so maybe that's why I identify more. Imagine that you like a certain complex game, so you start going to events to compete. Eventually people who don't actually give a fuck about the game itself start showing up, despite the competitive nature of the events. It wouldn't be much fun, would it? It would ruin the event for the people who actually want to compete. That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about...
The problem isn't that these people are "casuals". I'd consider myself a casual member of many hobby communities. Attention-seekers are the real problem, because they don't care about the hobby or community at all. They just use it to further their own goals (be it popularity, power, etc.) and try to become the center of attention. If these were people who cared about the game at all I wouldn't have an issue. But they don't, and it's apparent that they don't.
I think these people are almost like SJWs in a way. They want some type of control, but they go about things differently. Even still, a lot of the time these people either "turn" into SJWs, or "come out" as SJWs eventually. Odd, right?
SJWs are worse, sure. But while cancer is worse than herpes, I wouldn't be keen on having either...
So I'm not particularly happy about having either of these types of manipulating narcissists in my hobbies. I guess I'm just saying that I can relate.
TLDR; I disagree.
My bf could be considered a "casual" when it comes to things like gaming because he doesn't play nearly as much as I do. But he understands why I enjoy gaming so much and is ok with it, so long as I don't let it get in the way of things like house work, running errands, IRL shit like that. Most of the casuals I know are the same.
So long as they don't come in just to insult us and screech about not getting their way or that I'm "playing it wrong", I don't really mind them being around.
Besides, I've turned several casuals into full on gamers by introducing them to games I think they might like. If someone likes puzzles, I encourage them to play the Portal games. If they like adventure/fantasy, I try to get them to check out The Last Guardian. Fantasy/horror fans I know initially play Alice: Madness Returns just to get me to shut up about it and wind up loving it.
It can be the same with other hobbies. Sometimes you just need to point them in the right direction.
Voice of Oolong for Dragon Ball Kai, and the first DB movie. Though if i'm honest, he's more known for doing Ladd Russo on Baccano
So these guys have only identified 4 people that Vic "assaulted", That's not really close to 25 oh wait was it 100's damn that goal post keeps moving too much to keep track of it....

So wasn't the Michelle one debunked pretty fast? I kept hearing it was just confirming for myself and didn't Pridemore throw herself out there with the "Vic Hair Pull" accusation?
I am surprised that there are still some exceptional people out there that thinks that just because Funimation is a company and is working under a bigger company like sony, they are not going to suffer any consequences from all of this Vic situation![]()
These are the exact sort of people I'm talking about. And it usually doesn't come from casuals exactly, but from random people who don't seem interested in the hobby itself as much as something they feel the community might offer them (be it social standing, or power, I'm not certain honestly). I don't have a problem with casual players really. I might think it's best to separate competitive and casual communities (especially if prizes are involved), but I don't think casual players are an issue unless they're particularly retarded. So long as they don't come in just to insult us and screech about not getting their way or that I'm "playing it wrong", I don't really mind them being around.

Funimation is messing with people's ability to unsubscribe again. This guy has 80k followers so it's getting attention, and the comments are pretty pro-Vic.

S/o to Riot, Activizzard and every GAAS (Games As a Service) modules for displaying what happens when you capitulate to the mob and trying to make everyone "get with the times" to be labeled toxic and a bad person who doesn't get to play the game and isn't wanted. These are the exact sort of people I'm talking about. He is the nigger version of Jarbo...That's not just some random dude. SomeBlackGuy has almost 500k subscribers on YouTube. If he drops a video about this, it's going to be a pretty big deal.
THE CHAIR WILL BE AVENGED.
Just looked through her twitter likes and yep she's liked the KickVic tweets
EDIT: I pray to God she doesn't have a Vic story or she cancels her appearance at Kamehacon
there has been stories that the reason Stephanie lost her Dragon Ball roles(and OK K.O too) was because she has had trouble with police for DUI.Then Funi used Kai as a good point to replace her and not dealing with her alcohol problems anymore. Don't know if any of that is true, though.
I thought it was intentional. Fits perfectly.
