Also, despite all the exceptionalism, this hasn't just been to laugh at people. We are literally helping with the case. I think Shane and co are failing to understand something fundamental.

Anime is the battleground here but it's not the cause. Vic, conventions, and anime have become a rallying point for people who are fed up with trial by social media. That's why you're seeing people who don't give a fuck about anime throwing time and money into "kicking back".
