Good. Notch is an autistic moron who considers himself a programming genius when he can't even write a shitty block game without using java and needing 8 gigs of memory and a GPU powerful enough short of running Crysis. He's like a lolcow of programmers, even to this day Mojang is desperately trying to clean up after his mess and they already rewrote the game like 3 times.

oh this is going to get fun.

copyright law is a bitch when it comes to crediting the creators of something. and since all of it happened in the US, notch, and his fuck you money, is going to have a nice day in court.... getting him more fuck you money.

That isn't even close to how US copyright works. He legally sold the game to Microsoft, they officially legally own it now. Him suing for recognition would make as much sense legally as me suing for recognition for writing Moby Dick.

except no, not at all. recall the court case between jack kirby heirs and marvel. they settled but it proved that no, you can't just strip credit away from someone when they worked on a project. being the creator, I don't think microsoft has much of an argument for why notch hasn't contributed to minecraft.

That was a case of an employee creating an asset for a company. Notch legally sold the intellectual property he owned, it's no different than working under commission. He completely and utterly revoked all rights and ownership he had as the original author of the work, he does not retain the rights anymore. That's sort of where the whole billion dollars went.

whatever. if that were the case, then there would be no reason for long screeds of credit screens on games and movies. guess all these companies are exceptional faggots then, right?

It doesn't surprise me that they are doing pointless things like this while the game is still in a sorry state. Microsoft got one of the most incompetent teams working on the non-java Minecraft, which is what all versions have switched to (except the PC and PS4 versions).

I used to play it with friends and family, but the new and "improved" version is full of so many problems that it's not even worth it anymore. With every patch they fix one problem but add 10 more. Two years ago they announced a HD graphics update that has never come to realize because the developers themselves admit the code is a mess. That level of incompetence on a multibillion-dollar franchise is just crazy to me.

I just checked the laws and apparently there is a standing right to be recognized as the author of a work even if you sell your copyright.
However, this isn't a matter of what you're describing, Notch is still indeed in the credits and credited as the original author. Just being removed from flavor text in the title has no legal standing.

I just noticed the thread title myself, it is kind of deceptive and clickbaity. But yeah, literally all they did was change the splash text, which they do every update.

If they rewrote the game 3 times and the code still sucks maybe they're just as bad as he is.
