So that's "his girlfriend"? It's not just him wearing makeup? Really? Cause the resemblance in the face is heading into slightly creepy territory.

And yeah, his girlfriend's stare is soul violating.

At :02, the character hasn't even said a word yet. It's supposed to be there.

Where is the neutral lip to show the mouth in a pursed lip rest state?

The neutral lip line is literally ERASED, my guy.

Maybe I'm wrong, and I'll happily accept that L, but I have a feeling I'm not.

You are wrong.

The scene in question occurs in episode 4 at 10:00. The sub and dub are exactly the same, frame for frame.

A question....WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT SONNY STRAIT ? Isn't he also one of the kickvic'er who also supported monica rial and jamie marchie on their accusations ? Any unknown info on this guy ?
View attachment 708687
I looked into Sonny when we first heard about Iago, because he does own his own voice acting school/business. I didn't find anything worth noting here, he's just another shitty "friend" of Vic's that was all buddy-buddy to him because of his large fanbase but then threw him under the bus at the first chance.

Nick responded to soy so he saw the tweet. It also looks like soy either didn't actually lawyer up or is ignoring his lawyer. If soy did lawyer up I wonder why the lawyer hasn't explained the representation is for soy alone. Not the "we'" in the tweet. Or did soy miss that part?
Or his lawyer doesn't care enough to get involved in the Nick stuff because he knows it's stupid. He's likely just focusing on the actual pending lawsuit from Vic and BHBH so that he doesn't waste Soye's money. Can't imagine what he charges per hour, and Soye doesn't have a fan provided warchest.

If this happened 15-20 years ago, they would be fired on the spot.

What I find fascinating is the script liberties they've been taking with the dubs. This is deja vu.

20-30 years ago, when this happened, a lot of people hated it. People used to hate Sandy Frank and Carl Macek with a passion. It was considering a defining moment in anime fandom when the medium was considered commercially viable enough to be successful in a relatively unmolested form. That wasn't just more and more people watching subs, but also more and more people not wanting their dubs to be completely off from the writer's intent (minor changes like making a line sound more natural in English is something else).

Now granted, the old rational of making a lot of changes really was about commercial viability. Sometimes they had to adapt shit for TV, and that meant working around various S&P considerations. The fandom was smaller then, they were trying to ease new people into anime.

What's happening now is just idiotic. There's absolutely no point, and it's done entirely for their own selfish desires to virtue signal. They're driving people out. Not bringing people in.

Came back to find 10+ pages and thought something might have happened, was sad to find 2 pages of spergs slapfighting each other before I got to the joy dancing around a beached whale carcass.

Seems everyone but Soye and Shane have shut the fuck up for now, which is a shame because until the papers are sent out and the backstabbing begins that's all we had for entertainment.

L accepted.

That's a weird and interesting choice to not draw a full lip. It gives the illusion of film/cel grain, and that outright fucks with my brain. They usually teach people not to do it that often for that reason in modern anime.

More common in the 80 vhs anime like Dirty Pair, because that's what causes it -- the tape getting worn and the method of animation for the time and how it was drawn.

Oh well, can't be right all the time.

Normally, there's a "edited for broadcast" version and a "full run unedited" version of shows that syndication broadcast networks have for that.

They have a machine run shows through a bot and it just identifies arbitrary 21~44 minute commercial break points now. Directors would leave notes on what points of a film were best if they were going to chop it up to fit a 24/6 minute commercial break in a 30 minute program timer or longer for the censored cut of a film with ADR to strip out expletives.

The normal amount is about maybe once or twice. The new cartoons that are the 11 minute cuts of two vignette style "mini episodes" of a whole 22~24 minute show are super healthy, and that's practically the Western Animation frontier.

No wonder they push and sell so much junk merch.

It turned out to be a long con nothing burger. ?‍♂️

That's the thing, the buzzword line changes are exceptions to the rule, not the norm. Of the hundreds shows Funimation has dubbed over the years, there's very few that actually did that.

Of the shows I've seen or heard about, I've only heard it in Prison School (which got changed for the disc release if I remember), Dragon Maid, Interviews With Monster Girls, and Girlfriend Is A Gal. There's the argument to be had that even those four are too many, but it's not like you can pick an episode at random and be assailed by complaints about the patriarchy.

Even once in a while is once too many. Enough to where I'm not inclined to watch their dubs.

I'm not saying Funimation dubs are inundated with this. I'm just saying they shouldn't be doing it in the first place. It's giving me unpleasant flashbacks to the "before times" of the 80s and early to mid 90s.

They're dipping in the toe to see how people react and how many.

They've been dipping and sitting poolside with many toes and legs in the Western Animation industry, but now it's time to see if they can get away with it more often and louder.

There was also the example of a CR sub fuckup from Zombieland with something to do about transshits a character being revealed as trans, but I don't hold that against them.

Next will be a whole leg, then a cannonball.

That leg's name is High Spice Guardian. and this is stretching the definition of Eastern Animation.

Isn't High Guardian Spice in perma limbo because no one gave a shit?

As for Zombieland I'm not familiar with any egregious changes.

Wait so the line was in the original as well?
The actual "SJW" wording? No. The actual wording was inserted in there.

Except for that one line, Kristen McGuire has pretty good writing.

Horrifying.

Honestly, let them though. It's not anime, and the people who would probably watch it are probably the ones already complaining about anime tiddies, anyway.

That’s not necessarily true. The only reason why Nick replied was because someone who didn’t protect their tweets tagged both Ron and Nick in his tweet. So, Nick still probably doesn’t know that Ron is tweeting anything to him.

But Ron did say he was going to stop talking about Vic. Almost like he, you know, lied and talked about it the next week, which is what the people who replied to him last week predicted.

No one asked for it. The people who subscribe to Crunchyroll, a good chunk of them, are pissed that their money is being used for Western animation run by SJWs in conjunction with streaming anime.

This was the original line, translated properly.

What he's pointing out is the mouthflap timing and sync which he proved me wrong on and accepted my L for.

TBH, my knowledge of dubbing only goes as far at the late 1990's so anything before that is a bit vague for me. However with the way people have constantly rewriting the script to fit American sensitivities is just dumb and it's damaging to the dubs and franchise aboard. People have to have an understanding of japanese culture and if you can't translate that to people outside Japan, it's gonna be horrible and joke like this:708878

Values dissonance is also another thing. Sausage Party despite being a western cartoon is not rated as mature over in Denmark as it would be in America and in many manga translations, Characters swear a lot more, I even saw the Beta-Goku mention it in a video (can't remember which one).

There has been mixed success with Dubs being unmolested, with Kai, they went with the original script as much as possible but at the same time with Dragon maid is a total interjection of their SJW ideals and it sinks. People should just translate not change the script into what they want. I don't care if 90% of it goes into adult swim if it doesn't get bowlerized and censored. because i'd say people want to an authentic anime in dub format instead of it being forcibly changed horseshit that pleases the censors.

I thought Lily was a otoknoko with Peter Pan syndrome, though?

or at least I'm praying that she is because anything with trans children (not teens, because Lily is a literal child) in it instantly skeeves me out.

That was more or less my understanding. Warner just bought them, and a whole bunch of people from the division that was doing it got laid off.

If they do end up doing it, I'm betting they'll keep progress announcements low key from here on out. The response to that release preview was disastrous. They had to disable like/unlike ratings on the video.

Prepare to be skeeved, my guy.

I went to the most serious place on the internet to find confirmation.
